CSKA Moscow coach Giovanni Papini:

"When the news about our €44M budget came out, the management of CSKA Mosocw got mad. We will have one of the best budgets in Euroleague but not that amount. And we start the new season with the need of replacing four players: Nenad Krstic, Andrei Kirilenko, Alexey Shved and Ramunas Siskauskas (who retired). "

Could be an interesting fallback option since we have his Bird rights. He did average 21.7 ppg and 7.1 rpg on 58% shooting in the Euroleague.

I would take him back with his bird rights, he is a smart vet who can space the floor, he would give us flexibility and shooting off the bench.

Yeah, it'd be great if he fell into our lap as a backup center. Stretches the floor, at least pretty active on the glass.

It would also be pretty sweet to have Green, Kristic, and Melo all here as part of the Perk trade.

Wasn't on our roster at the end of the season, isn't eligible for the S&T.

Not really interested in Krstic. A middle of the pack backup center quality player who will command more money than he is worth.

It would seem like the perfect fit, though I'm not sure how Doc cutting Krstic' minutes to almost nothing in the playoffs might factor in.  Krstic is also more of an offensive player, which Boston actually needs, but Doc and the team philosophy cares more about centers covering the pick and role and rotating defensively.

We can probably only afford to sign three of the following four guys, if we also want to use the full MLE:  Krstic, Bass, Green, Ray.

Of course, all four of those guys might be better than what's available for the full MLE.  Time will tell.

Curly might end up being one of the better centers available for the MLE. Maybe we could split it between him and someone else, if we're lucky.

We have his Bird rights, so we wouldn't have to use the MLE.  However, his salary would likely take us well into luxury tax land if we signed the other three guys, as well.  That means we'd only have the "mini-MLE".

That's true. If we can get all four of those guys and still have $3 million for the mini, that's putting together quite a bench. Might not be the worst option out there.
