I wouldn't give much over the qualifying offer.  I think most of the vet minimum big men out there can give us as much as Stiemer.

If we're going to stay under the "apron" and be able to use our MLE, every dollar is going to count.

The qualifying offer or bust. NO interest in going a cent over. His contributions were minimal at best, and almost nonexistent through the playoffs.

We're stuck with Melo. I'd rather find out if he can play than overplay the Steamer. Qualifying offer or let him walk.

I agree with this...at no point do I go over the Qualifying Offer. I expect him to head to Minnesota and take the bigger offer.

Nothing. Greg Stiemsma is a stiff. Losing minutes to Ryan Hollins is a daming indictment on Stiemsma.

I would give Camby (check his health) the nod over Stiemsma .  Also I think S. Williams needs to be given a fair LOOK this summer to see what his attitude/skills are at this point.

Camby is old, but then Stiemsma was hurt and really couldn't play hard when we needed him most during the playoffs.

I always liked Semmi Erden .   Boy was game playing with one arm...Celtic pride there.. ;D

i would give steamer 3 years 6.5 mill, starting at 2 mill, i might go 2.5, steamer was productive when he played

Really ainge stuffed up when he signed him by not getting a second year team option, not the brightest ainge move. Would of required no cap space as minimun contracts run for up to 2 years

I agree with the above post.  We really should have gotten a player option on year 2 for Stiemsma.

If he sucked, we just don't pick it up.  It would have allowed us to keep him this year, and had Early Bird-Rights next year.

I find it hard to believe Stiemer wouldn't have agreed to that.

What makes you think he didn't offer one?  It's not Danny's first day on the job.

I would consider using the LLE to bring him back.  It is possible that Stiemsma is better than any other center you could get for that price.

If not signing Stiemsma means that the Celtics definitely bring back Hollins for the minimum, how does that make you feel?

cause steamer didn't sign one, don't think he had that many options, if he didn't take the c's offer with a team option second year were was he headed to turkey?, he wasn't even guarrented to make the 15. Greg should of had no leverage.

No more than 4 over two. Maybe a team option third year.

Agreed.

It's possible Stiemsma could have agreed to take less guaranteed money (25K, 75K if he makes the roster), so he should have had some small degree of leverage.

Should have, but who knows?  Here's what we know:

1.  There was no cost to the Celtics to add a team option, and it would have been in the Celtics interest to do so;
2.  Stiemer didn't sign with a team option.

Now, we can draw two conclusions:

1.  Danny Ainge is an idiot, and didn't think to offer one; or
2.  Danny offered one, and Stiemer's agent turned him down.

I don't think Ainge is an idiot.

I'd go up to 3,000,001.  His feet are a concern but early in the year last year he was almost dominant defensively.  If he can get healthy he'd definitely be worth the mini-max.

$2 million a year max. I am still trying to figure out the love affair with Stiemsma.

TP - In a world without the worries of cap space and exceptions, he seems deserving of a little more as he melded well with our team; however, he just isn't 'that' great of a prospect that we need to make sure we don't lose him. Heck, Hollins was getting more playing time than him in the playoffs. I like the guy and would like him to return with the QO, but we may need to look forward...
are you kidding me? hollins got more playing time because he didnt have plantar fasciitis like stiemsma did. theres a reason that stiemsma has the celtics Qualifying Offer and hollins  is not out of the league, because we ARE looking forward.

you realize stiemsma had plantar fasciitis during the playoffs right?

did you ever stop and realize why stiemsma just got a celtic offer and not hollins? oh you didnt, you just thought you would diss the dude without even thinking about the situation.
