Lot of NBA execs believe Chris Paul is still hoping to find a way to get to the Knicks...won't happen this summer. Maybe next July

would be just like the clippers to lose cp3 , but doubt it happens as long as LAC keep improving.

LA is a pretty big market and the Clips seem to be headed for contention as long as there are no major injuries. Why does he want to go to NY? I would feel bad for the Clippers if he left

Sometimes these guys have deals where certain benefits kick in if they join a more marketable team.  LA is a big market but the Clippers are not a big market team, they don't have many fans and are second-fiddle in their own city.

If I remember correctly Lebron had something like this in his Nike contract.  These things matter a lot during FA and trade negotiations, as they can bump up a player's salary considerably.  I wouldn't be surprised if CP3 could make an extra $20M a year in NY strictly from endorsements.

Considering NY has so much money tied up in Melo/Stoudamire/Chandler and they've already used their amnesty on Billups, they won't be able to create enough cap to sign CP3 outright.
