Do you want him back?

Maybe a two year deal for 5-6 mill total.

That's too much.  Nothing more than the minimum, in my opinion.

Don't mind Pietrus back, but not at the expense of JGreen.

JGreen showed me more in 1 quarter of a season than Pietrus did his entire carreer.

id give him the 1.95million$ exception..

Pietrus at this point in hsi career is a pretty one dimensional player...its 3 and D

Green should be a bigger priority as the backup 3...but since Peaches wants to be here, I wouldnt mind having him as well

This.

I'd go for MP if Green can't be signed and/or Ray does not come back. I love his commitment to be in Boston, but not at the expense of those two.

I believe that Pietrus hinted that he would play for the minimum, if KG was back. But I wonder if Ainge want to commit to him already.

I got nothin but love for Pietrus.  The dude is hilarious when the team needs humor but deadly serious when it's time to get down to business.  Add to that the fact that his strengths [defense, versatility, 3 pt shooting (ignore his post-concussion numbers, please)] are areas that the Celts can always use help in, and I don't see why we wouldn't bring him back.
I think it will only take the vet min [should be between 1-2 m for him, right?]- anything else and we can't really afford it.

The reason we haven't called his agent yet is because there is no way that we re-sign Pietrus [or any other vet min contracts] until we get Ray, Jeff Green and Bass's contracts sorted out. I don't think that indicates any lack of interest on the Celtics part.  The C's and Pietrus had a great relationship and I think he would love the chance to be back for another title run with this group

I think we would have Bird rights with Pietrus so we could sign him and not need to use any exemptions which is nice.  I could see 2@$2M or something in that range but I always seem to guess low when it comes to contracts.

I think he is a versitile player who we know fits in.  I am not sure we can do much better for that slot on the roster.

I love Pietrus...for the minimum. Or if we have some sorts of rights, I'd go on a one-year deal for a few million. He's definitely a decent ways down the priority list, though, behind Ray, Green and Bass.

Pietrus is a fun guy to have around; but he needs to get healthy before  his defense will be anywhere close to what it was.

Really. I thought he was solid considering his knee situation. I liked him in the rotation. He can hit big shots and plays aggressive defense. I also think he is a good chemistry guy which as we know is big for the Cs.

Unless his knees are in a nosedive, 2.5 mil per sounds fair.

Pietrus is a Non-Bird free agent coming off a minimum deal, meaning the most we can offer him is 120% of the minimum salary.  That means that if we want to pay him more than just below $1.5 million, we have to waste part of our MLE or the BAE.

I don't think that makes sense.

Agreed Roy. Pietrus is nothing more than a vet. minimum offer, and only after C's work out deals with Ray, JGreen, and Bass- whether to re-up or in a sign and trade for another player.
