Dooling should not be resigned, other options

Man, I would love to have Delonte back. Yes, he's injury prone, but as a 4th guard, why not? He would probably sign for the minimum and you have to love his heart and tenacity.

I didn't like it in the 2011 playoffs. He disappointed big time.

I think Dooling has the right chemistry with the team concept and I think he plays better with us this coming year than last.

I'd rather have Dooling. I love his heart and tenacity more.

If Ray/Green re-sign our back-court/wing rotation looks like this:

PG-Rondo
SG-Bradley/Allen
SF-Pierce/Green

Not many minutes behind that, adding Pietrus and Dooling to go with Moore and Joseph is plenty fine.  Both are mostly capable players who won't mind the limited and sometimes erratic minutes they'll get.

Final rotation would be:

PG-Rondo/Bradley/Dooling
SG-Bradley/Allen/Pietrus
SF-Pierce/Green/Pietrus

Moore and Joseph will be stashed in Maine this year most likely.

Add me to the list of those who disagree with this.  I think KD was great for the locker room, and gave us great effort / spark in the playoffs.  If he could play like he did in the playoffs the whole season I think he is a steal at the vet min.

 I think Dooling is a mediocre player, he´s a good player in defense but but he adds nothing to the offense.

 There is other options, free agents avaliables, for me Dooling made a bad season.

 Hollins out and Pietrus  I have some doubts.

I dont really like what he gave us ON the court, but I feel like off the court he was a real positive influence on Rondo and Bradley..

heck, Rondo said he was his mentor this season...and having someone who can get through to Rondo could be very important

When Rondo's career is all said and done, I predict that we will all look back and realize that Keyon Dooling's presence in the locker room and on the sidelines is what transformed Rajon from an enigmatic, dazzling, but frustratingly inconsistent basketball player into the superstar team leader that he will soon become.  The consistently brilliant play was there for the entire 2nd half of last season and continued into the post-season, and even though there were still outbursts of immaturity I thought that Rondo made a noticeable effort to reign in his antics.  If he can perfect the art of picking his spots [which is much harder than it sounds- for every PP who has it down to a science there's a KG who still doesn't have any clue] I could see him posting 15 ppg- 12 apg- 4 rpg pretty easily [he shot the ball poorly last season, if he gets his FG% back up to near 48% he should be right there in the 15 ppg range

Bringing Dooling back for the vet min isn't a bad idea...as long as Doc doesn't just hand him the back up PG minutes over Moore.

This is the problem. We are assuming that Moore is an adequate backup to Rondo on a championship team. I would love it if that were the case; but this is a huge gamble. Dooling is then an insurance policy. This is also a weak strategy. Would be better if Bradley could spell Rondo and Ray with another sharp shooter off the bench. If Moore can play that role then great.

If Moore ever beats him out for the job.  Dooling was fine as the backup PG in the playoffs.
