With the draft in the books and Garnett his agreement to comeback is there still a chance we can land Josh Smith?

For now, landing Smith is not the most important thing. It's probably signing Jeff Green and signing either Allen or a replacement for him. So say that's done, is there still a little possibility we can trade for Smith?

Is it even possible with the salary cap to have him here with RR, PP, KG and some other players who earn like 5-7 million. I don't really know all the rules when you can go over the caplimit but it doesn't look we even got caproom for Smith?

Then I got the feeling Ainge and the Celtics are really happy with the draft. I don't think they will trade those rookies in a heartbeat.

Then, if there is a possibilty to get him, what do we got to give Atlanta?
Something like: both rookies + Green or Bass + future 1st round?

Like I said I don't think Smith is coming and I am happy if we just keep our core with Allen + Green and maybe Bass. But I would love to see Smith in Celtic uniform. I think he got the right work ethic, super atletic and I think Rivers can fix his shot selection a lil bit. And with Smith you got someone who can guard LBJ and is as strong as he is.
Rondo/Bradley/Pierce/Smith/Garnett as a starting line up would just absolute destroy most opponents.

But is it possible? Especially if you look at our cap?

There has been a ton of smoke concerning this subject for a while, I'm assuming if say Bass agrees to an 8 million a year contract with ATL, Boston can use him in a S&T and bring back Smith. Its tricky but it can be done, I think their goal is to avoid the repeater tax for the 2013-2014 season. It seemingly doesn't matter to the Celtics if they go over 70 million for this year provided that it doesn't become a yearly thing. Lets see where this goes, but I would say until Smith gets traded you won't stop hearing him being linked to playing with his buddy Rondo.

I think we are running out of money.

I 'm beginning to think maybe the spending constrants are too tight , its hard to build a team if you can't spend the money .

Josh Smith would give us a quantum leap in quality to be contenders, a front court with Josh Smith + KG would be spectacular.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
If Joe Johnson goes to New Jersey, it will not help our pursuit of Smith. After clearing Johnson's albatross of the books they will be in less of a hurry to move Smith.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Its still possible. If Atlanta succeeds in moving Joe Johnson to the Nets, they're going nuclear there. Only guys untouchable will prob be Horford and Teague.

I hope we do get him though, since we're killing any chance for cap next offseason. I really think he could put us over the hump from 'playoff team' to 'legit contender'.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

maybe they are in less of a hurry but I guess they want to do something about him. He still got an expiring contract and I dont think there is any chance Smith is gonna resign with the Hawks. So they may slow things down but definetely have to deal them before the trade deadline.
