WOW.

Anyone watching NBATV?

David Aldridge, a pretty reputable source, just mentioned in conversation with Rick Kamla and Dennis Scott that PHX is going to go hard after our Ray, in an effort to keep Nash.

That backcourt would be a bit long in the tooth, but wow I think they'd be one of the better backcourts in the NBA.

Too bad he is coming back to BOS. Sign that 12 mil contract, Ray!

If true, that would be one of the worst defensive backcourts in the NBA.

That may be true, lol, but it'd be fun to watch. It wouldn't be THAT bad of a team, either.

Jared Dudley would be their SG/SF defensive stopper, and they already have Martin Gortat.

All they'd need now is a PF.

Not sure we can have the full MLE if we bring back both Bass and Green along with Pietrus.

Lets see...signing Ray to a very reasonable 6M/yr for an ideal 2 years. For Pete's sake, Big Baby got a 4yr/26M deal, Kwame Brown got paid 6.8M this past year, Kirk Hinrich just got paid 8M this past year. Ray on a two year deal is great. At the very least, he still would have very good trade value next year and be on an expiring contract the year after. People, this is a great deal for us. Sign Ray, Green, Camby (MLE) and call it a success.

If we can get Ray and Green and add a Kaman that would be sweet.

I like our chances we can offer more than the MLE and not compromise our other deals. The only thing we could not guarantee is a starting gig; but we could give him 20 min. and let him finish most games.

Yeah, it will be close.

You figure we're around $43.5 million for seven guys (assuming Stiemsma resigns for around his qualifying offer).  Add the three rookies, and you're looking at another $2.5 million.  That's $46 million, maybe a tad more.

If you give Ray $6 million, Bass $6 million, and Green $7 million, you're at $65 million for 13 guys.  Add in $5 million for the MLE, and $2 million for the BAE, and you're at $72 million, which is below the $74 million hard cap for "apron" teams.

I think the Suns are the real competition to the C's for Ray.

Maybe if this was 2005 Ray, it'd convince Nash to stay. 2012? I don't think so. I think Nash is going to retire in Toronto being the "Canadian ambassador of basketball."
