The Minnesota Timberwolves will meet with small forward Nicolas Batum on Sunday, and according to Chris Haynes of CSN Northwest, are mulling on offer of $45-50 million over four years for the Frenchman. Batum is a restricted free agent, meaning that the Portland Trail Blazers will have the opportunity to match any contract offer sheet that Batum signs.

Seriously?  $12.5 million per season for Batum?  He's a nice complementary player, but this seems crazy to me.  I know the Twolves have to pay a premium to get guys to play in Minnesota, but Batum is a third option; you can't pay him like a star if you hope to fill out the rest of your roster with good talent.

Kahn is terrible. He had the opportunity to make the Wolves into a pretty good young team, but he continually makes rash and illogical decisions.

The only thing saving his job and keeping the Wolves fans from rioting is the Ricky Love combo.

If I was Danny, I would start trying to trade for Derrick Williams since it seems that Kahn has already soured on him.

He's convinced that he has number 1/2 with Rubio/Love I guess.

Can Stern block an owner from doing that move?  Not sure how something like that is going to help the owners' arguments in the next negotiations.

Paying a large premium for potential. Very risky.

I think that Adelman is making the calls now. Not financially, but about which players to get, and which to get rid off.

Smart move.  Batum is absolutely worth that and fills a big need.

Some GMs just do not learn. Asik supposedly getting offered 8.5m.  This makes me worried that some stupid GM is going to offer Jeff Green a ridiculous contract.

Gallinari got 42M/4.

They are both 23 and Gallo had better numbers on a better team.

Batum is a nice 3rd option and still has upside but 50M/4 is crazy.

Something like 36M/4 seems fair IMO.

Like others have stated, Batum is a nice player, but not for THAT much...how in the world will they pay Pekovic down the road?

Now THAT man is someone whom I project they should pay that much money for. He's a VERY nice young Center.

The man had a +21 PER last season, in 47 games played.

13.9 pts, 7.4 rebs, .6 stls, .7 blocks...only 26 yrs old, too?

What in the world are they doing in Minny?
