Max for Hibbert is for less than a max for someone like Williams.    Should be around $14 mil.  No disrespect, but anyone who thinks Hibbert is worth only $8-10 is kidding themselves.  Kid's only 25, is a true center who can pass, play great defense, is a stand-up guy, has worked on his game to improve it every year, and is 7'1".  That player isn't available every year in free agency, and probably not once every three years.  Putting him next to Aldridge gives them one of the best, if not the best, 4/5 pairing in basketball.

As I've posted in about 5 threads here, I'd have loved to have Hibbert next to KG.  I think it would be the single best addition to the Celtics roster that was available in free agency.  I still hope DA kicks the tires and figures out how to offer him $12/year to see if he'll accept it, in case he likes Boston more than Portland.

I'm not sure Indiana can match a max contract if George Hill also gets a big offer... they'd certainly have to pick between one or the other.

Lillard, Matthews, Batum, Aldridge, Hibbert, Leonard is an intruiging young core. Hibbert isn't worth the max, but he's also worth more than ~$11-12 million. At that point, he's pretty much a max player.

Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey

I also think Indiana will match, no questions asked. They have plenty of cap space, and this max deal (I think) would be a non-max deal for them. So they might actually view it as saving a million here and there when contract time does come for Hibbert.

I think some of you are overreacting to the term 'max deal'.

Max for Hibbert is 58M/4, it's 14.5 a year. It's the same deal Marc Gasol got last season. They were both all-stars this year and put up similar numbers (adjusted).

Also, Nene (29y old) got 13M last year. I know it sounds awful but that is the market for big guys.

With Hibbert you know what you are getting, he is a hard-working no nonsense guy who improved every single year since college.

I would be afraid to give a big deal to a loon like McGee.

Blazer's offer Hibbert Max contract

Let's be real we weren't getting Hibbert anyway.

You know McGee under the right toolage could play a big part for us. He needs that veteran guidance. Knock of some of those rough edges and bam us have solid smooth skill player ready to contend against the cHeat. Let's face it that who we have to beat to make it to the finals.

And this is why Ainge traded Perk rather than deal with him becoming a free agent.

Absolutely let him go. This is absolutely crazy... Makes me love the KG deal twice as much as I did yesterday.

Unfortunately, Indy has to let Portland overpay and move on.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

This is why we drafted Fab Melo, and why nobody should hold their breath on getting a top FA center.  Decent centers get overpaid more than any other position in the league, and they aren't essential to a championship in this day and age.

Unless Kaman wants to take a discount, look for us to cobble together a C rotation between Steimsma, Melo, and some lower-tier FA, with a little bit of KG thrown in.

Exactly....  I would have drafted THREE CENTERs.... developed them and traded them for the best wing players in couple years...

Laugh..but thats exactly what the LAKERS do ALL THE TIME...they get the best deals in Rookie centers and deveolpment them , them trade for stars and draft picks.  They COLLECT BIGS and use them to aquire the best other postions.
