Faced with the possibility of losing Ray Allen, the Boston Celtics are pursuing Dallas Mavericks free-agent guard Jason Terry, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Celtics are preparing themselves for the possible loss of Allen, and began the process of recruiting Terry after midnight ET Saturday, league sources said.

The Mavericks still have interest in re-signing Terry. The Los Angeles Clippers also have emerged as suitors, sources said. The Celtics also have interest in Los Angeles Clippers free agent guard Nick Young, sources said.

Terry, 34, averaged 15 points for the Mavericks this season.

He'd be a great pickup that would make me feel less worse about losing Ray, but I much rather have Ray instead, to be honest with you.

Both of those guys are terrible for us! Especially Terry, he is 6'2 playing SG. Bradley is 6'2 also making us the smallest overall backcourt in the league. Nick Young would be a last resort guy, he is a bonifide gunner that can't do anything else.

terry is undersized to play with rondo and bradley, nick young is a head case and mayo has sucked last two years when his minutes and role was cut down rather them target tmac or delfino with  the bi annual and save the $$$ for the front court.

Both of these guys have playmaking skills, especially young but it's impossible to get young, clippers will re-sign easily.

Jason Terry most likely, at least he is still productive unlike Crawford.

Of all the names you mentioned, Celtics should probably be most interested in the guy who best fits the team's defense.

how do u kno how much he'll command? the market aint dat large for him man, nd u noticed how he improved when he went to da clips right? washington just has a garbage party culture once him nd mcgee got traded they both improved i wouldnt be thrilled bout da signing but i wouldnt call Nick Young a unproductive headcase

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Jason terry would be such a great ray Allen replacement. He can create his own shot, beat guards off the dribble and drain the three. Think of him as a rich mans keyon Dooling that isn't as intense defensively, but can still guard most pgs without too much trouble. The big advantage over Dooling would be his incredible shooting skills. Terry is a team player and not a chucker Luke those others mentioned. His defense is what we'd need to work on a bit. Go Danny go!
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

http://www.thenbageek.com/players/349-nick-young

he doesn't rebound the ball well

he doesn't create assists

he averaged more shots than the averge sf, but had a lower total shooting percentage than the average sf consistently in his career. (TS 51% last year)

and blk and stl wise he was average

not very good, not alot of production

Last year he made 3.7 mill, this year he want more for multiple year, his not worth it, your better of keeping your flexiblitly than to tie up any cap space for a guy who was below average in assists, rebounds and shooting percentage.

Also as witnessed by his time in washington he is not exactly a leader.
