No he didn't he said

"Both Hawks and Nets are engaged in talks on several fronts. No deal close on Johnson, but sides have gone back and forth on possibility."
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Deron - JJ - G.Wallace

That is a very nice trio on the perimeter. A highly skilled center in Brook Lopez. Add a quality PF to the mix there and NJ would have a nice team.

I presume they offering cap space (maybe role players) and picks to Atlanta. Lopez, Wallace and Deron are all FAs so they can't trade them yet.

Really? Hmmmm interesting. I'd wager it would send Lopez back to Atlanta for a tremendous frontcourt of Horford and Lopez. I'm not sure what they would do with Smith, then. I don't know what else Atlanta would want, other than cap space and picks. Is that enough to get it done? If it is, then Williams, Johnson, Wallace, Lopez is a nice core.

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
Marshon, picks, this years rookies to ATL for Joe "Average Allstar" Johnson, blah blah blah. I still don't think Deron's coming back.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Really surprised it's Johnson that the Nets are after.

Why not go after Josh Smith? Resign Deron, and then figure out a way to figure out a deal for Dwight Howard.

Yeah, that seems more exciting to me. Deron, Brooks, Wallace, Smith, Lopez. That's a versatile starting lineup.

Yeah. Johnson makes more sense for Atlanta. Johnson leaves, Smith is off the books after this year. They can rebuild around Horford and Teague.

May trade Smith to Houston or Lakers and Johnson to Nets. May get back Gasol from Lakers or Scola and parts from Houston
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Another big stumbling block, sources said, is Atlanta's insistence that Brooklyn include promising Nets guard MarShon Brooks in the trade.

Quote
The most recent proposal, sources said, would call for the Nets to send the expiring contracts of Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow and Jordan Williams to the Hawks in exchange for Johnson.

Quote
Sources say that the Nets, though, would prefer to complete a deal with the Hawks by including at least one of their free agents via sign-and-trade -- most likely Gerald Green -- and by hanging onto to one or two of the aforementioned expiring contracts.

Couple thoughts here. 1) It's unreal that that's the talent Atlanta is getting back for Joe Johnson. That contract was just the worst decision ever. 2) It's even more unreal that Gerald Green could be the centerpiece in a Joe Johnson trade. 3) It's also ironic that MarShon Brooks is the most controversial piece.

A lot of ex-Celtic-drafted cast-offs being discussed here.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Johnson brings a proven scorer that can make the team a playoff contender immediately. They are going for the high offense kind of team, like an older version of the Thunder but a monster in the middle like Dwight. Great inside outside presence it seems.
Wallace/Williams/Johnson. Dwight signs and they fill the four spot with Memet or Humphries= Instant big boys in the East.
I wouldn't wanna play that line up in a 7 game series.

of course ATL could trade Smith to LA for Gasol, and that's when we give them the farm for Gasol and become real serious.
Melo,Avery,Bass+picks to ATL, Josh Smith to Los Angeles, Gasol to Celtics.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I bet Atlanta gets rid of JJ and Smith, and Marvin Williams, holding on to only Horford and Teague.
