Can someone please post a reliable link about this alleged Ray Allen/Rondo rift?

I just don't believe it, that's all.

Here's one, of many:

http://www.nesn.com/2012/06/report-ray-allen-rajon-rondo-had-friction-this-season.html

..But, even with this, it's just speculation, IMO....no true "Inside" source.

I know Jackie McCallum stated that she believed Ray was gone as well - she seems to have a lot of clout.

But even with Jackie - did she actually hear Doc, Danny, Ray or Rondo say that Ray was gone?

There is just so much speculation out there. Even the most reliable sources can be wrong sometimes.

oh how nice  ::) It's from Chris Mannix the same guy who was 100% sure Kevin Garnett was retiring.

Washburn has also confirmed it, and he's one of the most reliable celtic reporters.

The celtics are far too classy of an organization and group of players to go public with these things. This is all we will get until well after Ray retires.

Can they patch things up and have Ray come back? I could see that, they are mature guys. Do they want to, and do the celtics really want Ray back? That is the question.

He'll sit on the bench at Miami too and make less money and might not get a ring.

Like him back, but he needs to come to terms with being a role player and come off the bench .  No shame in that.

If he can't be a role player and hang around couple more years bothers himj too much , then he can't and we 'll make do without him. I think he is making a HUGE mistake.

But , I already come to terms that the is leaving.

BTW ...Sully is not the fat piece crap gravy davis is.

I'm believing that the Celtics DO want Ray Allen back.

Danny mentioned right after the MIA series that he wanted BOTH Ray and KG back to mentor the youngsters - along with Paul.

KG was one shoe that dropped today.

Ray Allen is the next shoe to drop.

So until Ray Allen departs, I'm still believing that he will be back in Green.

Rumored relationship issues aside, the man played on a bad ankle and STILL made this team competitive vs MIA.

Sure - he certainly wasn't himself. But he seemed to find his game vs MIA and became close to the Ray Allen we all know.

My thing is this: Who will BOS bring in to replace what Ray Allen gives us?

Jamal Crawford, OJ, etc - these guys just have not impressed me in the post-season.

For me, I'll believe that rumors and speculation are abound and Ray will be back in Green next season - with ankle healed and all.

Weren't the Cs a .500 team this past season with Ray Allen starting? And something like 20-9 with Bradley starting?  It isn't a huge sample size, but it's still eye opening.

Ray Allen is worth more than $3m to the Cs.  Is his alleged rift with Rondo something over which he's willing to leave millions of dollars on the table. If he signs with the heat to ring chase at the mini-MLE, instead of taking more money to try for a title here (and maybe get #20 in the rafters), I'll lose a good amount of  respect for him.

There's talk that Memphis wants Allen quite badly.  Does he turn 3/$16M to take 3/$9m in Miami?  If Ray is looking for a payday, a S and T for Mayo is there for the taking.

I think Ray is coming back here for 3/$15m, and Green will get what's left of the caproom. What's being in the rafters of the most storied team in basketball worth?  If he plays 8 years here, Ray's  number is going up.  What's a legacy in Boston worth to Ray in his post basketball life?  (as opposed to his legacy as a 4 or 5 team vagabond?) His rift with Rondo would have to be something on the level of LeBron/Delonte to make him want to leave over just the rift.

Lets stop pretending that Rajon Rondo doesn't have an attitude problem.  He's a fantastic player... but it's been well documented that he's stubborn and very difficult to get along with.  There are reasons why the Celtics have tried to trade him multiple times... his personality is definitely one of them.

That said, they also tried to trade Ray multiple times, but that had more to do with his age and the fact he was a valuable expiring contract... twice.

I'll be sad to see Ray go.  I have a feeling Rondo will miss him when he's gone... those were easy assists.  Rondo just stands there and waits for Ray to come off screens... then bam... 50% chance of getting an assist every single time.  Plus, having Ray out there (in conjunction with Pierce and our mid-range-shooting big men) allowed Rondo the room to operate... and penetrate in for easy baskets.

I'd say that Ray will miss Rondo giving him easy passes, but I doubt it.  If he goes to Miami, he'll have more than enough open shots and King James is more than capable of getting him the ball... that's for [dang] sure.

BTW ...Sully is not the fat piece crap gravy davis is.
He surely has the same (absence of) lift though. Of course, the blog regulars will never whine about this, because Davis is a "fat piece of crap", and Sullinger is a "great steal who dropped in our lap at 21". Such is life.

Idk where this keeps coming from. People are saying SUllinger can't reach the rim, even though I've seen highlights of him completing ally oops and dunks and stuff.

I mean, he's not THE most athletic, but c'mon don't compare him to Big Baby. That's just disheartening.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Everything I've seen of film with respect to his offensive game is pretty much identical to what Davis did: spin moves and sheepish layups, all happening decidedly under the rim.

Maybe I've seen the wrong piece of film, but the resemblance was uncanny. For what it's worth, I've seen Davis dunk as well, so that doesn't say much.

personally, I think its time to move on from Ray. He will not be as good with another team. Doc ran a lot of stuff for him. Miami's offense will not run him off screens and Spolstra is not nearly as creative drawing up plays and out of bounds plays.

Ray will be a spot up shooter off the bench for Miami. All you have to do is play him like Philly did and not help off him.

We need a guy like OJ Mayo or Lou Williams. I actually prefer Williams to be honest, but Mayo has undeniable talent. He would be a much better player with KG, PP and Rondo.

Adding a piece like Mayo or Lou Williams to go with Rondo, AB, JGreen, Sully and Melo will ensure the C's are a contender for years to come.

Sullinger is a top level talent who is a mature, smart young player who knows how to win games. Glen Davis was an immature, out of shape, extremely selfish player who thought he was an all-star. Big difference.

Is it even possible to work with people as closely as these guys do and not have a little "friction" now and again?

I've worked with a partner for about 10 years and have at times been driven crazy by him.  At other times we get along.  Overall, I'd be worse off if I left. That's what Ray has to decide.  Is Ray a "Devil you know is better than the devil you don't" guy?  Or is he a "Grass is greener on the other side" guy?

It's my impression that KG, RA and Rondo are ALL pretty intense guys.  Ray has some pretty strong OCD(ish) behaviors (and KG and Rondo likewise seem to have their quirks).  Guys who are on the neurotic side can rub other people the wrong way from time to time (ask my wife).  My guess is that all 3 have a history with occasional rocky relationships with teammates.  Moving to another team is just moving to another group of men.

It depends whether Ray sees Rondo as an annoyance who deep down he can work with, or whether he sees Rondo as a guy he's got to get away from.   Tanguay has selected a 50/50 here -- the outcome won't really say anything about the quality of his gut.

One would think that if it was just a "little" friction, it wouldn't be in the news. But because of the Boston media, every little thing gets overblown. So you never know.

Someone tweeted:

u also said Paul pierce would be traded during past season big zero for that guess!!!

Tanguay responded with:

Quote
And he almost was New Jeraey would not do the deal. That was a opinion. This is a aource

I don't twitter (tweet?) but if I did this is what I'd say:

Hey Tanguay, way to get all personal and rise to the bait. Tool.
Celtics fan for life.
