Just one comment for those arguing that the Jeff Green we got for half the 2010-11 season is the only Jeff Green we can expect if we resign him.

Don't forget that Jeff knew he was playing with a dodgy heart that entire time. He must have, because according to the NBA's investigation, OKC's doctor knew before the trade but didn't disclose this, resulting in the Celtics getting OKC's 2nd rounder next year as a penalty.

I think Green played hesitantly and without the intensity he might have because he was afraid to push his body too hard.

I think he is a critical signing if the Celtics want to contend again next season. The #1 reason Ainge signed him was to reduce the load on Pierce and that need hasn't changed. If anything, its become more acute.

I think if Green played this season, Pierce is in better shape late in the season and that alone would have resulted in a more favourable prodution differential between Pierce and Lebron.

I agree that we don't want to overpay for Green, because we need some $$$ available to sign a good big man, but if we signed him for $8 mill, my understanding is we can still throw up to about $8 mill at another FA like Kaman or Humphries. Surely one of those two could be convinced to play for that amount when you're offering them a legit shot at a ring?

I believe we need to bring Green back, and we should be able to get him for a favorable amount after he missed last season. He may not ever be a star, but we may not need him to be, and I think he can be at least a very good player, giving Pierce rest, giving Rondo a running mate, and giving the team a bit of a post presence.

I'd like to have Ray back, but if he goes elsewhere, we need to get another good shooter--whom I think Danny will acquire through a sign-and-trade of Bass. I also believe we need a starting-caliber center; Camby and Kaman are decent options, though injury-prone, so if we could get someone just as good but less injury-prone, that'd be even better. I'm also cool with bringing back Stiemsma and Wilcox, as well as Pietrus and Dooling.

PG: Rondo/Dooling
SG: Bradley/Allen(or player X)/Moore
SF: Pierce/Green/Pietrus
PF: KG/Sully/JJ/Wilcox
C:  Kaman(?)/Stiemsma/Melo

Since Rondo plays so many minutes, and since we had so much trouble keeping healthy bigs last season, I think it's a good idea to carry an extra big and only two PGs.

I think that's a really good starting lineup, and I think that Ray (or another good shooter), Green, Sully, and Stiemsma is a good bench core. I also am hoping for a breakout season for JJ.
