Fab melo is someone coming into the league with alot of question marks as to what he can become..on a wrong team, he could be a total bust.

but the celtics may just be the best fit for him...look at how BBD, Perkins, even steimsma have developed under Garnetts tutelage...all have become legit NBA players.

Melo(and sullinger for that matter) are going to learn how to play from one of the best in the game, are going to learn how to prepare for games, how to practice.

look at how avery bradley has developed learning from Pierce,KG,allen?

I think for Sullinger/Melo to reach their potentials..this is the best situation for them.

yup... that was the goal... find a raw 7 footer with potential for KG to mentor.  But I'm not sure how much potential Melo actually has.

I think eventually Melo could be a defensive anchor sort of player...he's very raw but has some good defensive instincts...

sullinger is a more polished player and has a higher ceiling IMO

Bring back Clifford Ray.

Actually, isn't he a coach somewhere else now?

Edit:  Aww... he was just hired by Sacramento.  Great big man coach.  Perk and Big Al loved him.

Hire McHale to be the big man coach.

I'd love to see Robert Parish come in as a big man coach.

Pretty sure parish and Clifford Ray use to run a very popular big man camp back in the day prior to Ray getting hired by teams (like Boston) full-time.  Maybe they still run it... not sure.  What's up with Parish these days?  Hardly ever hear about him.

Saw in a recent interview that Parish is looking to get a foot in the door to coaching in the nba. I'd say welcome back to the Celtics Chief

If only Houston would fire him  ::)

We need to find a real big man coach, if the Celtics could nab Clifford Ray again that would be amazing

Lol. TP.  I forgot McHale was coaching Houston.  I wasn't serious anyways.  Mchale is too high profile to get hired as a "big man coach".

Ray apparently is with the Kings now.  Probably working with Cousins, I guess.

Its not a question of whether KG makes Perkins,Melo, Steamer better but how they will play once he is gone?

Clifford Ray in Sactown is going to turn the Cousins/Robinson duo into a 2 headed monster. No more rebounds for whoever plays the Kings.

I just hope Fab ain't gonna be like POB, KG never got into his head.

By the way, I have no idea what Fab is gonna be in 2-3 years, If he ever has a DeAndre Jordan type improvement I would be extremely pleased.

I said this to my coworkers last night, that this kid is the same kind of player/similar build/defensive specialist that KG is, and that I thought it would be crucial to Ticket's return, just to be able to mentor this kid. Can you imagine just being drafted and knowing KG was going to take you under his wing? Fab must be high as a kite right now.

Interesting theory.

Just hope he listens and does what Yoda (KG) tells him.

God bless him.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I really like what I see from Fab here:

Melo definitely has big defensive instincts -- and I can't wait to see how much he is able to contribute this year.

Hollins is likely out and I think they bring back Steamer...so in most any case, we should have some size and shot blocking to support KG this year.
