Should a team like the Celtics toss a low range one year deal at a player like Greg Oden?

If his surgery pans out and he plays like he could it would be a huge grab.  If he doesn't then you burn the contract and chalk it up as a loss?

If you threw Oden, Melo and Stiemsma at the line-up and hope two of them stick you could get a huge pay out, but high risk as well.

I would rather gamble on Brandon Roy for around 2 or 3 mil if Ray goes elsewhere

No -- two project centers already in Stiemsma and Fab Melo.

Can't use up another roster spot on a third question mark center.

I keep forgetting about Roy.  Wow, why have they not been more actively pursuing him?

His knees are completely shot, and I don't think the Celtics want another injury prone player after dealing with the J.O. debacle.

I like OJ Mayo as well.  I mean he was making around 5.7 this year and I think it would come down to whether he would want to win or want to cash in because I'm sure someone would roll the dice on paying him a lot of money in hopes it pans out.
