Heat persuing Ray Allen, offering mini-MLE of $3 mill

I do not know if Ray will go, but I think that Boston wants the continuity of Ray, see what happens but I would not do so much attention to rumors, the other day Phoenix.
Perhaps Ray is going to Miami, but I'm sure Ainge will make an effort to retain him, I hope and want, the best shooter in the history with Reggie.
I could not bear to see Ray in Miami, our greatest enemy in the league right now, I hate Miami and Lakers, but anything can happen, but I see complicated than KG´s return Ray go, I do not know.

I think C´s can to offer to Ray 5 millions for 2 years,will see...

If Ray signs with the Heat, I hope Danny pursues a tampering claim against them.  This rumor was going on during the playoffs.

Well, players are allowed to basically talk amonst themselves and recruit to their hearts content.  Nothing can be done about it.

If this rumor is in fact based on direct quotes from a Miami executive, then they would be guilty of tampering.  Teams can not negotiate, or comment as to contract terms to be offered, until July 1.  Not even the Celtics are currently allowed to negotiate with Allen.

My guess is the rumor is just the writer "putting 1 and 1 together and getting 2".  Miami is well within the rules to state they are interested in Allen, and obviously the only realistic means they have to sign him is the mini-MLE.

Players aren't supposed to talk to other players either.  From Larry Coon: "Tampering is when a player or team directly or indirectly entices, induces or persuades anybody (player, general manager, etc.) who is under contract with another team in order to negotiate for their services."

Hmm... what does the max (years and all) mini MLE come out to? Allen Might get it from Miami and if that's the case we might be outbid.

Point of reference would be Battier's 3 year 9.4m contract he signed last year the full mini MLE. We could easily give Allen more money.

Well sure, but good luck proving anything specific was said amongst the players.  Now, I guess some of the public comments by Wade/LeBron could be possibly considered tampering, but they would likely get nothing more than a small fine and a warning.  The team would probably get the same.

This happened to Mark Cuban a few years ago in regards to some comments he made about LeBron.  The penalty was inconsequential.  You'd need hard evidence of actual contract terms to have any ammo to punish Miami in any meaningful way.  So far as I have heard/seen, that doesn't exist.

I don't really see Ray back next year, I just think the numerous attempts to trade him + demoting him to 6th man have strained his relationship with the team. Still, I maintain that the LA Clippers have the most to offer. They have cap (I think, not 100% sure) and he'd presumably step right in as their start 2 guard.

Steven a smith just said on Sportscenter he sees Ray staying with boston now that KG is back..he said only way he sees him going to Miami is if the Celtics give him an insulting offer
