I expect the Celtics to offer him more $$

hopefully KG and Pierce have been recruiting him as well....if he chooses wade/Lebron over pierce/KG guys who he has fought hard with and won a title with over the last 5 years I'll lose some respect for him honestly..

The Cs "can" offer more, the question is if they will, and the other question is about what Ray "wants" other than money (ie: a better shot at a ring in Miami? the opportunity to stay in Boston with family and not uproot kids from their school?).
With KG now back on board, I bet he and PP start lobbying Ray Allen.

How does LeBron playing PF give Allen more playing time in that Heat lineup? Ray as SF? He's still going to have split backcourt minutes with Chalmers and Wade.

I maintain: Celtics can offer Ray the best package in terms of minutes, money, and chance at a ring. Plus, added stability in terms of impact on his family.

If Ray signs with the Heat, I hope Danny pursues a tampering claim against them.  This rumor was going on during the playoffs.

Hmm... what does the max (years and all) mini MLE come out to? Allen Might get it from Miami and if that's the case we might be outbid.

I think our next Target is going to be Jeff Green, followed by Ray allen.

Green is going to be VERY important to our "small ball" lineup against Miami(where they will switch lebron/battier to PF)

Well, players are allowed to basically talk amonst themselves and recruit to their hearts content.  Nothing can be done about it.

If this rumor is in fact based on direct quotes from a Miami executive, then they would be guilty of tampering.  Teams can not negotiate, or comment as to contract terms to be offered, until July 1.  Not even the Celtics are currently allowed to negotiate with Allen.

My guess is the rumor is just the writer "putting 1 and 1 together and getting 2".  Miami is well within the rules to state they are interested in Allen, and obviously the only realistic means they have to sign him is the mini-MLE.

Honestly...Thats why I really wish they could have pulled off a trade for Josh Smith. He's the perfect guy to have at PF against Miami.
