lets not forget too that with KG back, I dont know Ray's mindset but he might be feeling abit "disloyal" if he bolts Pierce, KG to go play for Miami (its basically saying "F u guys im gonna go for a easier chance)

Ray is still the best 3 point shooter in the NBA and isnt afraid to take or Make big shots...I want him coming off the bench and playing the 2 in crunch time

Ray Allen needs to be resigned.  A dollar more than Miami offers and a no trade contract.
Shooters got to shoot.  Might as well be hitting 3's for us.

Before I make any judgments on Ray, I want to see what kind of shape he's in post-surgery. People forget that before his injuries started affecting his play mid-late season, the man was averaging 17+ ppg. But Ray was getting killed in the postseason by quicker guards, so maybe it's time for a changing of the guards.

The Cs can't just stand pat and bring everyone back. They need to improve and get younger.  Ray is the one who needs to go.  He absolutely showed his age this year.  It sucks if he goes to the Heat but the Cs need to move on.

This also means that we will not be looking at the FA market the next 2 or 3 years. Ainge said that is just a recipe that doesn't work. It's only worked for one team (Miami), as most players sign extensions and don't ever make it to free agency. This means that the likelihood of Allen returning for a 2 or 3 year deal just shot through the roof. Just like I now expect Green to sign a multi-year deal as well.

If Allen does return, I expect us to target a true center with our MLE (Kaman) in order to preserve KG. So a 3 year deal for the just turned 30 year old 7 footer, at yearly increases each year seems likely.

This is an outcome I wouldn't mind...if you just want a defensive body, wait to see what happens with Marcus Camby (He's old but he's still a presence at Center), a big that can board, block shots and can give you 15-20 minutes a game. Would also help Steamers development

Yeah, I'm split between Camby and Kaman, although neither's durability thrills me.

I agree with the philosophy but like Camby more and think it is more realistic given our resources (I dont think we can get Kaman for a MLE)

Rondo needs more opportunities to run with athletes who run the court.  The team looked better when Bradley was starting and getting starter's minutes.  The ball moved better and the defense was better.

We're not going to get any further with a team that gasses out.

Celtics need Ray back as they need KG. He was great last year before the ankle problems, and he'll be great next year. Celtics can sign him for 2 years/13M, with no-trade clause. It's not clear if KG/Pierce/Ray will be playing for 1 or 2 or 3 more years, I bet they'll decide after every season.

Celtics need to use their cap space on their own free agents. Then, they can use MLE or even a sign & trade of Bass if he wants BBD money (too much IMO) to get a useful veteran or young player (Kaman, Camby, Ilyasova, Beasley, Mayo, Jason Thompson...) with no more than 2 years left, getting flexibility on the 2014 summer.

Sign Ray for two years, sign Jeff Green for 1 year at reasonable money/2 years at slightly below MLE with team option and insurance for health issues. Then see what Bass will command, if he doesn't want 2 years/9 MIL then try to sign & trade him. If Stiemsma takes QO, ok, if he gets more elsewhere, let him go.

Bring back Pietrus for little money. Give Sean Williams a chance to make the team through training camp. Sign the rookies. That's something like:

Rondo/Moore
Avery/Ray/Pietrus
Pierce/Green/Joseph(?)
Bass(?)/Sullinger/JJJ
KG/Melo/Stiemsma(?)/Sean Williams(?)

If Bass is gone, try to bring a useful player at any position, we need players who can play and give the Big 3 a lot of rest in the Regular Season. Cut/trade the non-guaranteed guys if you need to bring a veteran at any point.

the starting position is bradleys to lose....but in a close game, I want the 3-point king out there on the court

I'll agree and disagree. Rondo needs at least one person to run with, all the time. If Jeff Green is on the court, especially with a guy like Johnson out there too, then that's enough for me. If you run a lineup like Rondo, Ray, Paul, Green, KG, you give Rondo a guy to run with and probably three of the best trailers in the NBA. Trailers are where you can get cheap, easy three point shots. Or jumpers in KG's sweet spot. I'd like to add one more guy to run with them, but Ray can easily get 10 points a game in the trailer role alone.

  I agree wholeheartedly.  Rondo is a far more consistently great player when he can consistently get out into the open court.  He cannot do that alone, he needs running mates.

  I love Ray Allen.  He is one of my all-time favorite Celtic's because he is a great clutch performer, a great mentor and one of the classiest professional athletes in the world.  With that said he needs to take a MAJOR discount and a reduced role if he wants to remain in Boston.   He isn't the player he once was, especially on defense and creating his own shot.  We have someone who has replaced him(Avery) that fits better with this back court mate(Rondo) and our best player.

  It is time to move on unless Ray wants to stay bad enough to take a lot less $ and a greatly reduced role.

I still think that Ray and avery bradley can coexist....bradley at this point IS better with rondo on the floor because he has a knack for knowing when to cut and can run the floor with Rondo

BUT its clear that Danny wants a 'shooter" off the bench with looking at jamal crawford/OJ mayo as backup plans.....so why not bring back the greatest 3-point shooter to come off the bench and knock down 3's.

Bradley is good, but I dont know if hes "cruch time" good...and in a close game I still say I want his "Threat" out there
