He is listed as 274 and 255 ?

Which is his actual weight ?

Some comparisons with Shaq: Shaq to the left, Melo to the right

Height: 7'1 / 7'0

Wingspan: 7'7 / 7'3

Reach: 9'4 / 9'2

Hands: 11"L x 9"W / 9"L x 10"W

Body fat: 12% / 9%

Weight: 301 lbs / 255/274 ?

His reach is the 2nd in the draft, who's #1 ?

Wingspan is not impressive for a 7 footer but his reach compensates.

He's got a body that can add weight easily, he's endomorphic.

His vertical is good for a center 31", shaqs was 32"

Add more please. I like this guy he's got size, he can block shots and take charges, Ainge says that's unique for a big man.

I hope he's a diamond in the rough. Could be a real gem.

Melo lost like 35 pounds over the past year, so he probably started at some of the higher numbers and ended at the lower ones.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

One number that I love is eleven feet seven and a half inch No Step Vertical which was among the best at the whole combine.
That means he can reach a shot as high as anyone in the NBA. And he gets off his feet quick so this is excellent this year if and When Kevin comes back.

BTW. tops in the draft was A Drummond at 11'9" and Ezeil at 11'10" respectively.

Melo's size and measurables were a big reason he went 22.  There's no question he has the size to be a good NBA center.

He has true NBA size and better than average athleticism compared to true centers.  Syracuse players have had a tough time transitioning tot he NBA because they play almost no man to man defense there, but for a true center, being able to play the Cuse zone effectively tells me he has the lateral movement needed to play NBA defense.

Melo can learn the bump and grind stuff and has good feet and a good lower body, which, along with his size, standing reach, and no step vert,  should make him a good candidate to be a solid one on one low post defender.
