Now this is all dependent of KG and Ray's contracts, but if they only resign for 1 year ,next year this could be a possibility.

Looking at all the free agents over the next 2 seasons it would seems these guys would all fit in with Rondo...

1) You have Jeff Green already, resign him for 7 mil per 3 yrs
2) Mayo has just become an UFA, sign him to same 7 mil per 3 yrs

Now you have a core of Rondo,Green,Mayo locked up at around 25 mil total.

3)Now if you add PP contract onto that it brings the team salary up to about 41 mil. I know Danny won't amnesty PP this year he has said as much, but I don't think there is any doubt they would amnesty PP if they have a chance to add Smith and Howard. PP contract after next year is only partially guaranteed I believe

So lets say PP is amnestied . That leaves us with a roster of

Rondo    (11 mil)
Green    (7  mil)
Mayo     (7  mil)
AB       (2.5mil)
JJJ      (1.1 mil)
Sullinger(1.5 mil)
Melo  (1.5 mil)
Total = 31.6 mil

2013 Projected Salary cap = 60 mil

That leaves you with 25  mil after cap holds leaving 2 roster spots open for Josh Smith and Dwight Howard.

You have team option on JJJ that year so could free up another mil there and maybe trade Melo  for future 1st if it means they can sign Smith and D12.

That brings you to almost 27 mil in cap space , give d12 15 mil a year and J Smith 12 mil

PG: Rondo
SG: Mayo        / Bradley
SFl Green
PF: J smoove  / Sullinger
 C: Howard    /

Not Bad huh?

I know it sounds like a long shot, but I think it could be a realistic possibility ,especially if Deron Williams goes to Dallas like I am hoping he does.

I think Howard will be long gone by next summer. It would be great if your scenario happened though.

I think Ainge is going to try to do a combination of resigning the vets on short deals, and sign young guys to smart contracts. That should give lots of flexibility for trading the valued younger players if the right star comes along, and letting the older vets retire. Its a tricky juggling act for sure.

Josh Smith's crush on the Celtics certainly does have me wondering if he'll end up in Boston within a year.

In this scenario, I'd much rather just keep Bradley for 2.5 mil than Mayo for 7.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

yea I was thinking that too after reading it again, but figured Mayo was a bigger name to get fans excited haha, but you're right Bradley should be there too. Just get rid of JJJ and Melo and keep AB. What was I thinking?  :-X

I think we can have both Mayo and Bradley and they bring different skills, one on offense and one defense

My two favorite targets long term are Smith and Harden.  That'd be my pipe dream.

Don't think Howard is going to happen and tbh I'd rather beat him.  Really don't care for him.

Dwight Howard won't make it to free agency.
