I hate posting things like this because I don't want to give it any more views, but I'm just kind of shocked by this article by Jason Whitlock.

http://msn.foxsports.com/olympics/story/whitlock-dream-team-isiah-thomas-shaquille-oneal-snubbed-for-john-stockton-chris-mullin-because-of-race-062712

Basically he says the only reason Chris Mullin, John Stockton, and Christian Laettner were selected were because they were white.  They didn’t want Larry Bird and 11 black guys out there.

Isiah not making the team had nothing to do with Jordan, and everything to do with them wanting Stockton solely because he was white.  No reason to want the NBA's best assist man to facilitate for such a talented team, they only wanted him because he was white.  Nothing to do either with him being All-NBA in both '91 and '92 while Isiah didn't make any of the 3 teams.  Purely due to race.

Christian Laettner was only chosen over Shaq because he was white, not because he just finished putting together one of the greatest college careers all time.

And Chris Mullin, who was 2nd team All-NBA in ’91 and 1st team All-NBA in ’92, was only chosen over Dominique and James Worthy because he was white.

But apparently he has no problem with Scottie Pippen, who only had one All-Defensive 2nd team selection to his name at the time they picked the original 10 (though Scottie did have a ring too).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

If that were true, then where was McHale and Chambers?

Whitlock is an absolute idiot and race baiter.

That's been apparent for years.

Whitlock is a racist idiot...plain and simple.  He does these "cut and run" reverse racist articles, acting like he's doing everyone a favor.  No truth to this whatsoever...

From what I recall from the documentary, Thomas' actions at the end of the '91 ECF didn't exactly endear himself to those putting the team together.  I'm sure that wasn't the only influence at play but it was brought up.

What a tool. Some people have to make everything about race. The Dream Team was 75% black and he's still dissatisfied. Guys like him won't be happy until present-day whites (who never owned slaves) give present-day blacks (who never were slaves) millions of dollars in "reparations," routinely grovel at their feet, and are relegated to nothing better than scrubbing toilets for a living. Makes me sick.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

I suppose Mullin and Stockton only got voted into the HOF because they were white also?  Oh wait a second, they could actually ball.

I thought it totally awesome that he was there, but one could argue that Bird was the least deserving of anyone on that team.  The guy could barely walk.

Regardless, the race card is a little silly to call on that team (especially 20 years after the fact).

Yup

Magic didn't want Isiah either due to Isiah's handling of Magic's HIV announcement (When the Game was Ours). Jordan said he would not play if Isiah was chosen (multiple sources). Plus Stockton was the best playmaker in the NBA at that point, so he fit the team perfectly.

Mullin was coming off 5 consecutive 25+ppg seasons and was a great outside shooter and a solid passer (Wilkins was not). You need a shooter for International play. Again Mullin fits better.

Larttner was chosen due to his ability to play the stretch 4 and the fact that it was felt that with a 40 minute game and the team having Ewing and Robinson a third traditional center (Shaq) was not needed.

All well documented.

Whitlock is wrong.
