WALTHAM, Mass. – Mickael Pietrus wants to be back in green next season. He also hopes to be reunited with Kevin Garnett.

While reporters assembled in Waltham, Mass., to chat with Danny Ainge about Thursday's NBA Draft, Pietrus was at the team’s practice facility rehabbing his surgically repaired right knee. Pietrus had an arthroscopic procedure on the knee on June 13, and he reported that he’s convalescing nicely.

Mickael Pietrus is rehabbing his right knee in Waltham, and told reporters he would like to play for the Celtics again next season.

“MP is going to be back flying again,” Pietrus said, laughing.

Quote
My main focus is to bring KG back, like everybody else,” Pietrus said. “After that, he’s going to want me to be back too.”

While Garnett is believed to be the “first domino to fall” in the Celtics’ offseason planning, Pietrus made it clear he wants to return to Boston alongside KG.

I spoke to him. We have a bet. He’s rooting for Germany. I’m rooting for Spain,” Pietrus said. “We just talk about soccer right now. We don’t talk about his business.”

As for his own business, Pietrus, who’s still stinging from losing in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Miami Heat, is already focusing on his goal.

“I only have one thing in mind and that’s two numbers. One and eight,” said Pietrus.

BOSTON — The fact that the Miami Heat are reportedly interested in Ray Allen comes as no surprise to Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers.

"You'll hear that and probably 10 other teams," Rivers said. "If they don't have interest in him, then they're crazy. But we have interest, too."

Quote
While many are ready to cast Allen off into the world of free agency, Rivers still has hope that a deal could be struck that would keep Allen in Boston.

"Ray is going to do what he should do, actually, " Rivers said. "Is look around and see (what's available). We'll be involved as well."

And as much as the Celtics clearly need an infusion of youth, bringing back veterans should as Allen isn't such a bad idea, either.

When asked about the kind of team he would like to see, Rivers said, "the team we had last year was nice; I mean the whole team, with everybody there. That would be very nice."

If Pietrus is just going to be making about 2 or 3 mil, I would gladly bring him back as a 3rd string SG/SF behind Jeff Green and Ray ( or ray replacement Crawford?Ross?)

I would let Bass Walk if it means we can bring in a Illyasova/Kaman/Humpheries for a few mil more a year than Bass wants(around 6 mil a year).

man i like Pietrus a lot wish he coulda got here in about 2010 we coulda used him as a wing smh i mean i can see him take a hometown discount to stay but he was wildly inconsistent to be our primary backup wing. I would love to see him back but with another wing who can score

I've been thinking about this lately also...we had alot of good players banged up who did and did not play. imagine all of them healthy and fresh for the playoffs?

Just add a power forward who can start and bring bass off the bench. KG would have to split time at center with Wilcox. With steamer as 3rd string. Or as one poster put it just have two power forwards. do not even call it a center position.

worst case scenario that is not a bad option. bring the team back and get a starting BIG and roll with it. I am not crazy about Pietrus at all and he was GOD awful at times but I am willing to give him another shot.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

Pietrus is a good deal...alot of player and defender for the money. Every team needs a ALL IN type player ,  he is good for the team moral .  He never says gives in and plays though injuries. Can't spend alot on him for sure, but a fair shake , and he comes back , with his big grin ...he is a proud Celtic.

Maybe after the year he had, he'll be available for the minimum again.  I'd rather reserve the MLE for a PF.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Pietrus struggled offensively, no doubt, but I'm hoping that most of that was due to the concussion, and that he can get back on track next season. I love his spirit, his upbeat attitude—we need guys like that. Plus he's a good defender and can play two positions.

I think Pietrus definitely comes back.  He had a rough year with injuries.  He is a flexible 2/3 who I consider to be an elite NBA defender.  Plus he was decent on the boards.

We can get him for a good price.

Pietrus helped us big time I forget what game I think it was the Hawks series or maybe the Miami one where he pulled down those consecutive offensive boards sealing a BIG win for us

He was hindered by the knee injury though hopefully his shooting can get back on track

It was Miami, and it was huge.  Wasted a good minute of time, even if we didnt end up scoring.

I'm with Doc.  Get the band back together.

This team took the world champions to a 7th game and had to play patchwork missing key players like Wilcox, Green, & Bradley.  What happens when you add these players, & address other concerns using the 2 first round picks ?

#18, thats what happens.

If we can somehow get a healthy Rondo, Bradley, Pierce, Bass, KG backed by Dooling, Pietrus, Ray, Green, Wilcox and Stiemsma, then I have no doubt that we are capable of winning a championship.  That's 11 players who can play basketball well.

I wanted Pietrus before the Jeff Green trade. We didnt need to ship off Perkins to get Green for a Pierce back up. Pietrus would have been perfect. The celts never would have lost their swagger or their chemistry and i think there would have been a good chance that we may be talking about 19 right now instead of 18.

If KG decides to play I would like to see Pietrus back.
