The most important off-season move Ainge needs to consider is how much to offer Roy Hibbert.

Hibbert has made huge strides in with his body and game in his four seasons in the league. Last year, he established himself as one of the best centers in the league.

Is he worth $15 million per season?
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

I don't think Hibbert established himself as one of the best centers in the league.

I think he is a middle of the pack starter. No way would I pay him $15 million a year.

Yeah defensively he's not a game changer as he's slow to help and cover P&Rs. He's a good scorer but not a dominant one, and you can say the same about his work on the glass.

Few players are worth $15million elite level. Roy Hibbert is around $10ish million range IMO. I think he's few years away from that upper echelon of the NBA if he ever reaches it.

I think more than a few are. The issue is that there are a few players who are actually worth 20 to 40 million dollars, that get squeezed down to 15 million (starting level max salary)

Distorts things.

2 Blocks per game, 19.35 PER, great playoffs...

He did well when matched up against C's not named Glen Davis this post season but he didn't stand out as "great". You should do well against Ryan Anderson/Joel Anthony/Haslem/etc.

I didn't think he did that well against them. Not that he played poorly, but he seemed to disappear late in the close games when he should have been close to an automatic bucket.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
15 million a year is too much. He's not that great of a player to be paid as such. I mean sure, he still has room to improve but still...

That 15 mil. could land us say McGee and another high tier and/or high potential player. Not saying McGee is better than Hibbert, what I'm saying is with that money, we could load the roster and be deep and get pretty much the same production that Hibbert is going to give us.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

He is really slow and not that athletic. I don't think he'd be a good mesh if the Celtics are going to keep Rondo and Bradley and start to up the tempo.

Danny isn't going to waste any time on this

The bigger question is whether signing hibbert is worth losing ALL of our free agents minus kg?

$15 mil?

Absolutely NOT!

Give me Asik for $5 mil, and lets call it a day!

The thinking is that, if the contract is reasonable ($9-$11 per season), the Pacers will match it.

Same goes for McGee.

If the C's want a franchise center this off-season, they are going to have to pay for it.

I'd rather have McGee.
