Apparently we're close to losin Ray to da Heat smh

Would Ray accept $3M/yr just to play for a contender other than Boston?  Or would all sides be amenable to a S&T that would let him make more money?  If so, what would the C's want in return?

Would be lovely if they could somehow package Hollins and Ray for that #27 to help them move up in the draft but probably not too likely.

Ya I heard on The Herd this morning on espn radio that signing Ray Allen is the heats number one offseason priority..not sure how I'd feel. I understand it's business but [dang]
*CB Miami Heat*

It looks like $3M is Ray's value, and he might be willing to move/play for that.

So we should be able to keep him for that too, right?

Give him is no-trade clause if we can as long as we get 2 yrs at $3M per.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Lol @ Battier being an upgrade over Ray. Battier is basically a spot up shooter who can defend very well- he has about one third the offensive talent that Ray has.
If you put Ray on the Heat as a three point specialist he'd probably shoot 60-70% running hot in a playoff series.
Battier is on the PERFECT team for him where he has the best two wing player combo in the world driving and dishing and swinging the ball around to him- these two guys make Mario Chalmers and Eddie Jones look good. Battier would stink horribly on any other team. Remember him on the Grizzlies? No you don't, it's because he's a one dimensional offensive player with good/dirty/cheap defense and size.

I hope everyone remembers Ray was severely injured this playoffs- basically playing with one strong leg and has to have surgery to fix his ankle lol.
How quickly people forget.

People forgot what? How great Ray was in his prime? He was great. Now at almost 37, he's a shell of his former self. He can still bring it occasionally, but not every night, anymore. He'll make a great role player, for the next few years, but the guy we all remember is not walking threw those doors again.

How great Ray was at the start of the season before his injury. Of course he's a shell of his former self. I'm one of the most vocal supporters of relegating Ray to the bench and giving the floor to Avery. I don't even want Ray back unless it's for 5-6 million at most. But one thing I know is that Ray Allen is a much better overall player than Battier at this stage of their careers.
He was injured these playoffs and he's being judged for that unfairly.
Someone suggested that Battier is a stronger player than Ray Allen which is absolutely ridiculous. He never has been and never will be when they are both at full health.
Battier is a defensive role player that ran hot this playoffs and hit a tonne of threes. Nothing more.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
