Danny Ainge on WEEI (Sounds like he likes sullinger a lot)

It sounds like he'd bring them back IF KG comes back.  From listening to the show, it sounds like KG wanting to come back is the biggest issue.

Otherwise, the only hard news is that they're going to give the QO to Stiemsma which leaves us around $23.6M in free cap assuming they makes the two first round picks keep EM, but renounce the MLE and BAE.  Tough to believe they'll renounce the MLE, so they more likely will have $19.6M before KG et al.

Yes of course KG is the biggest issue, that's always been the case and no one should be surprised that Ainge confirmed this.  I tuned in too late to hear the Stiemsma comment but that makes sense.

He did sound very high on our own guys saying "they are better than the free agents out there" which I interpret to mean free agents that the C's actually have a shot at signing, given their tight payroll situation.

Otherwise Ainge didn't reveal very much about anyone or anything.  One caller asked about signing Hibbert (RFA) and he hid behind his requirement to keep mum about possible free agents.

 yep..I kinda got the same feeling..I would not put it past DA to take him , IF DA moves up a few picks and Austin FALLs a few spots ....it might be close ...I'd say there is a 50% chance he'd pick him , depending on WHO ELSE they are looking at and if they are still around.

I took from his comments to mean we may trade up about 5 spots, which might be enough to land Sullinger, but probably not high enough to draft Rivers.

the problem with that is there is only one Sullinger and we would need Rivers to drop many more spots that just one

If KG is back, Ainge has got to find better size to go with him. Bass won't cut it going forward. I'm thinking he's looking at the draft as opposed to free agency. So he's looking at size that could help him right away.

That makes sense given that he is not high on the FA crop.  However, KG would want a vet center next to him, someone who can contribute right away.  Seems to be what Ainge wants too.  I am not sure Chris Wilcox is that guy as he is more like a backup center.

He was asked about the possibility of combining both 1st rounders to move up, and there he said that'd only get them up to 15, 16 or 17, something like that, so that particular route sounded unlikely.

  I heard a few minutes of it. Someone asked about packaging the picks to move up and draft Rivers, Danny said he'd probably go top 10 and his picks weren't enough to trade up that high.

Risk-taker Danny just might do that.  What does he have to lose?  Somewhere along the line, every team needs a lucky break to get ahead.

I think Camby could be had for 3-5 mil, can't hurt that he grew up in ct and went to school at umass ?

Always liked Camby. As long as he can still rebound and defend the paint, he's the guy for the job. Anybody seriously think KG will be pleased with a rookie starting center?
