Ray, please stick around for another year.  And come off the bench.  Of course you
are still starter material, but the Celtics need youth in the starting lineup
and they finally have it in the form of Avery Bradley.

You will play a major role in the big games next postseason well rested and happy, raining daggers on the Heat.  Pierce might even join you off the bench.

C'mon.  We love you.  Please stick around.

You know, I'd be perfectly happy to leave Ray in the starting lineup if Doc would just limit his minutes to something like 24.  Yes, Bradley took Ray's starting position late in the season, but that was after Ray's ankles really started bothering him. If Ray's operation clears that up for another year or two, I think he would be back to what he was doing at the beginning of last year, and if you remember that was playing "lights out." Bradley can take the other 24 SG minutes and maybe a few more at PG. Bradley can still play the lock down defense and provide energy and maybe eventually take over even more minutes. However, if starting is what it takes to get Ray back on reasonable money, I'd give him that.

It makes sense to let Ray, KG and Paul start, but limit their minutes during the regular season...didn't we all say that last year and the year before? In the past, Doc couldn't do it (he didn't think) because the men behind the big 3 weren't good enough. Now, having a healthy Bradley and Green might change that...at least for Ray and Paul. The C's still need a big good enough to let KG rest. GS and Bass or a healthy Wilcox and an improving JJ (or somebody from the draft) *might* be good enough.  The question is, would Doc finally do it?

Starter where?  And for how much?  The Celtics could easily offer Ray $5M per year for a couple of years to come off of the bench.  He is still a great shooter, but what contender could pay him more than $3M per year?
We all think we know more than we really do....
