I have a feeling Josh Smith is going to be a Celtic come draft night. Just a strange feeling. I was thinking yesterday to maybe get in a 3 way with NO.. IDK why I am just going off gut reaction here but would love to get him. Plus rumors are flying now that they want to move him to move up in the draft.

I'd love to make a trade like that, maybe give up two firsts for him. What is the deal with matching salary? We don't have the space to absorb his contract because of cap holds. Short of trading Pierce for him I'm not sure how we could get him. Can someone please explain a possible scenario?

I really doubt it happens draft night, just because the C's have very few guys under contract to trade before July 10.  However, could certainly happen this summer.

We have tons of cap/ trying to get a third team involved. Not going to say it will be easy but If we could get New Orleans to get involved with thier 10th pick and have the hawks take a center in oakafor and the 10th pick we give NO the 21st and 22nd pick and JJJ and maybe Marvin Williams from the Hawks (I know throwing him in there might throw off some cap between the Hawks and Hornets but just being creative!) that means we get Josh and the 23rd from the Hawks. Thats not all that bad.

NO gets
21st and 22nd
JJJ
Maybe Marvin Williams

Hawks get
10th pick
Oakafor

Boston gets
Smtih
23rd pick

Remember, the C's have NO cap space until they renounce players, which cannot happen until July 10.

They could concievably pre-arrange a trade, with teams drafting for each other, however, that is very unlikely, since nothing can be official or binding for 2 weeks, and that is a long time for each team to reconsider and decide to back out.

Oh well there goes my by draft day idea. Maybe something a little later in the summer then!

If he comes here I see it happening in July or August. Andy Kats mentioned that the Celtics are unlikely to make two picks to bring in two rookies. Maybe they deal one of their picks for a future pick then move that pick (along with other picks) later in the offseason to land Smith.

The future pick idea is intriguing.  While normally I think it is tough to get a future first (without insane protection) for a pick in the 20's, aparently picks in this years draft are being coveted more than in the past.  So, I think this could really be a possibility.

I don't either.  But if the price is right, I would gladly give him a one year tryout with this team.

I agree with Redz.

The talent is good, the price (contract) is to much for what he does.

i dont like the idea of smith and rondo.  they are good friends, both inconsistent, and both are moody.  if garnett is here, he might be able to keep them in line, but if kg is gone (or we have to rely on smith/rondo long term) i can forsee there beeing issues where they will be moody together and alienate themselves, which could impact the team.

Question for you guys who would you rather have Smith or Jeff Green?
