I can't believe we are looking at CVN's gnarly feet on a scale.  Please tell me there is something more interesting to discuss.

Charlie's feet don't look all that bad, actually.  NBA players make a living with their feet, and many of them take good care of them.  Jordan used to get pedicures all the time,  for example.

But what do I know.  I have finger toes.  My foot can palm a basketball.  If I ever lost the use of my hands, I could still play the piano.

His weight doesn't concern me nearly as much as how lost he appeared every time he got minutes.

Ditto
Hopefully like Bradley with an offseason program he will seize the opportunities he is given. But given that Bradley's leap in play is the exception I'm concerned.

What offseason program?

Things he didn't have last year, like summer league, training camp and the like.

I see a wasted roster spot that should have been spent on Brooks, frankly, who already has more value than Johnson.

I have little or no interest in Johnson being a part of the Celtics next year: Waive him, trade him - which will only be possible as filler since he has no league value - whatever, and chalk it up as another Ainge draft mistake.

How about you let JJJ adjust to the NBA? Not every rookie is a bust if they don't play in year 1. That is too shortsighted in my opinion.

I say go for 10 more, dude is a twig.
yea I'm with you guys, KG weighs 253 and he has a hard time with bangers sometimes. I would like to see JJJ at 235 at least

I need to question this.

KG is 253?  I am really, really, really skeptical about that.  I know that's the number NBA.com lists, but come on now, look at him.

For comparison, Joakim Noah is also listed as 6'11" but his listed weight is 232.

Rasheed Wallace, also 6'11", has a last listed weight of 230.

LaMarcus Aldridge is 6'11" but listed at 240.

Marcus Camby is 6'11" but listed at 235.

Channing Frye is 6'11" but listed at 245.

Charlie Villanueva is 6'11" supposedly out of shape, and just tweeted himself on the scale at 243.5.

No way is KG 253.  Dude has probably never been over 240 in his life.  If anything I'm guessing that's an input error on NBA.com's part (or wherever they got that number from) and they meant 235 but transposed the numbers.

You guys really think KG is 253?

As much as any other player is his listed height.

And then how about David Robinson, listed at 7'1 and 235?  Wouldn't that seem to be more about what KG would weigh?

Most guys that are listed at 6'11 are 6'9 or so. KG probably has 4 inches on them. And as for Robinson, I don't think player's measurements change from year to year, so that weight might be from his rookie year. As for JJJ, I'd like to see him on whatever strengthening program they put Rondo on, he was rail thin when he came into the league and now he's fairly strong and still quick.

I would've thought KG was in the mid 240s. Say 243lbs to 247lbs. So 253lbs isn't too far off. I have no problem believing that.

Rasheed Wallace was playing at 260+ lbs over his final seasons with the Celtics and Pistons.

LaMarcus Aldridge has put on a good 20lbs since he entered the league. He is up around 260lbs now.

Marcus Camby is still a very skinny guy. I think he's smaller than KG. I would guess around 240lbs. Maybe slightly more, maybe slightly less.

I think Noah is quite a bit above the 232lbs he came into the league as. I would say low to mid 240s lbs.

------------------------------------

A lot of the weight measurements are done when players are rookies and are not regularly updated. Oftentimes not updated at all (over the course of a player's full career).

So you can't really take a lot of player's weight listings off NBA.com or ESPN at face value. You'll generally see more up-to-date listings from beat writers around the opening of training camps when they are discussing which players have slimmed down and lost weight or gained weight/muscle.

This guy needs to learn our defensive schemes.
Im really disappointed that he hasnt learnt it yet.
But besides that im glad that he gained some weight.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Yeah, that bothers me more than the weight. However, if Powe could *eventually* learn the rotations then JJ can, too.

I don't think Johnson is mentally slow, I just think he is "thinking" his way through the defensive rotations now. He has got to get past that stage just needs to get to the point where he makes the right rotations without thinking about it. He has the physical tools (lateral quickness, length, foot speed) to play good defense, so if he *wants* to...and if he wants to play for the C's he better want to...eventually he will.

If JJ can play reasonably good defense next season, he'll play  a good number of minutes. If he can't/won't play Doc's defense he'll stay on the bench. I think the same can be said about any "young" player in the C's...no defense, no court time.

Bradley was injured before the draft and recovering all that summer and fall.  He could watch, but he wasn't cleared to practice or play. So, no, Bradley really has never had a summer league, nor a full pre-season, nor much in the way of team practices in his pro career.
