I say we go after him HARD as a 6th man (start paul at the 2 and jgreen at the 3?)...or even start at the 2, that is if ray leaves. if not i think roy would still make a great go-to scorer off our bench.  he's got the heart, soul, and team play mentality to fit us perfectly!!!

I'd also like us to try to get grant hill and chauncey this off season.  chauncey is best friends with KG and they'd play very well together - both know how to win and what it takes to lead a team to winning.  grant hill...well he's just a real stand up guy and plays great d and provides great IQ as a cutting wing on offense.

All great players, all older with extensive injury histories.  I can't say the youth movement is here, but its at hand and those hands don't include players that may not be durable enough for 82 games and the playoffs.  If this was last year I think you'd be right, but this year Danny is looking to get younger.

I think reports of Roy's return to the NBA are premature. He undoubtedly wants to come back, but will his knees let him? That's the big question.

I worry that making those moves would keep us old and injury prone. We really need to look to get younger, quicker and deeper.

I would like to get Roy, but it HAS to be cheap. His knees are glass. That being said, he is still good. Worst case scenario he is injured and sits in a suit at the end of the bench. To me thats no big deal. We can only play 12 anyways so he will have company down there. Best case, he is healthy all season, gives us a good 15-20 minutes of the bench and gives us some real wing depth. low risk/medium to high reward.

Billups winning it all with the Celtics would be kind of poetic justice, but he should be able to fill in the Eddie House/Sam Cassell role. Recovering from a serious injury is not a guarantee of that.

About Roy, it would be nice if he could play again at a good level, but doesn't look like it will be that easy. Probably the best team for him and Oden is Phoenix. Look at Grant Hill.

He should look at getting into coaching a college program.  Those knees are bad now, he still young, keep playing at see him at 50.

We have Joey Dorsey for the work-out.
I was watching closely the Greek league this year and Dorsey was one of the key members of European and Greek champions Olympiacos. Could be very solid and cheap back-up PF. Little undersized (6-8), but incredibly strong (270lbs). Defensive specialist, "poor man's Ben Wallace". Definitly worth another look...

Nice find. I like Dorsey, and he's definitely worth a look.

Instead of B. Roy, I'd prefer Kirk Hinrich (assuming Ray is gone). He can come off the bench for Rondo and/or Bradley.
Celtics fan for life.

1st off, starting Paul at the 2 is a terrible terrible idea.

I would love to have With us. I would certainly be nervous about his injuries but he is too good to pass up if we could get him on a cheap deal. I would love to bring in Billups, Camby, and KG back as well all on one year deals and then reload with our cap space for the 2013 free agent offseason. Adding Green and Bradley will give us some extra youth and if we can resign Bass (without giving up too much cap space the next year) thats some good athletes off the bench. Id also like to bring Wilcox back.

Go to battle with:

Rondo/Billups
Bradley/Roy/Moore
Pierce/Green
KG/Bass/JJJ
Camby/Wilcox/Steamah

That allows us to give one more good run with the team while still be able to be players in the free agency class next year to try and reload. This provides a deep team with a mix of a few youngger athletes and the battle tested veterans. Its a Spurs like model. Also With Moore JJJ and Steamah as our 11, 12, and 13 they get another year of needed experience to hopefully help us out in the next year. Plus our draft picks as reserves.

I can't get behind Chauncy or Grant Hill, except if they are minimum vet contracts to give us a little savvy come playoffs (assuming we make them).

We need some young legs to sop up minutes and push the tempo. I can't bear to have us be the slower more tired team again.

That being said, I am blindly optimistic and think Roy is going to be able to come back for 2/3 years and play 15-20 solid minutes a night. Don't have a real reason.

Chauncey, Roy, Oden, and Hill.  Certainly the official Sports Medicine Clinic of the Boston Celtics would approve of these signings.

I have  no problem with the Cs signing Roy and/or Oden to cheap money deals.  I also think Chauncey would be a good fit here, but all indications are that he wants to stay with the Clips.  he's been working at their facilities in his rehab.

Roy seems like a West Coast guy, so i can see him with the Clips or maybe even the Lakers.  I can see Oden signing with either Memphis, where his agent's son is the PG and an Oden pal.  Other great places for Oden would be OKC or Miami, but Miami must be violating some rule by having both Eddy Curry and Greg Oden on their roster.
