KG will re-sign with the Boston Celtics this offseason according to Flip Saunders, who served as an adviser to Doc Rivers throughout the Celtics playoff run this season.

Saunders, who was previously Garnett's head coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves, told Sid Hartman of the Minnesota Star Tribune he is "positive" Garnett will re-up with the Celtics. Hartman did not elaborate on whether Garnett told Saunders that directly of if he is simply basing it on Garnett's behaviors he observed while serving in his role with the Celtics.

Saunders was around the team about as much as he could be, sitting in on just about every team meeting, coach's meeting and player's meeting; so Saunders' opinion is more than that of your casual observer.

More shocking than this is Flip Saunders was serving as an Advisor to Doc Rivers.

Thats like Olowakandi serving as an advisor to Shaq

hope he comes back for around 8-10 mil so we can bring back Jeff Greenfor 6 mil and Hopefully sign Illyasova for around 8 mil(or Humpheries/Kaman on a 1 year deal for 8 mil)

PG: Rondo      / Vet Min
SG: Bradley    / Ray or draft pick( Jenkins, Lamb)/ Moore
SF: PP         / Jeff Green
PF: Illyasova  / Royce White      / JJJ
 C: KG         /Wilcox           / Steamer

*Green and KG can also play PF

Don't think KG will take less than a two year 24 million /12 million per year deal.

Even though we would essentially be bidding against ourselves I think he deserves that deal.

With Ray off the books we would still have some cap space left.

no way, i would give him 12 mil in a 2 year deal...I love him, but that's too much if he's planing to swing back to pf position.
i'd say a 15-16 in 2 years if fair enough...

How about $12 million next year with a player option at about $8 million for the 2nd year.  Flexibility and respect.  2 years at $20M is a win-win.
We all think we know more than we really do....

If you give him $12 million, you can't decrease his salary by more than 7.5%, so the second year would have to be no less than $11.1m.

Either we sign him  (KG) and make a run or basically Keep PP (he is a Boston Icon) , Rondo and AB and start over at square one.

WIth the C's going so deep into the playoffs , and so many guys being free agents, or retiring, Doc's son ,  guys hurt, and new guys , and two decent draft selection , scouting , meetings , ect , ect ..it was probally more than DOC could handle (well)and make the best decsions .  Looks like to me.. Doc and DA have two many irons in the fire and needed help (Flip)

The sooner the KG and Boston decide something the sooner we'll know what type of team we'll have and who DA will be going after.

I 'd like to see KG back , with a revamped bench of couple NEW BIGS FA's to play the 5 spot.  A healthy Rondo, AB and PP . Wilcox , Green , Pietrus, maybe trade up for one sure keeper draft pick . Moore back cheap.

Don't believe it will practical to bring back  Bass, Allen or JJJ or Dooling.

If Garnett doesn't sign....Hopefully we sign Saunders.

There is no way Rivers is going to be one of the NBA's highest paid coaches to coach a blown up team....Orlando will be calling.

It really isn't.  That Saunders could take a team with Garnett and loose cannons like Cassell and Latrine Sprewell and have the success he did speaks to his talent.

I'd have no problem seeing Saunders coach if the team was blown up.

Yep ..all this is mess ...I'm getting a headache thinking about all the various MILLION ways this team could wind up looking like.

Wouldn't mind Flip as a assistant coach.  He's a smart guy really.

Now I know how Orlando feels ...direction totally unknown.

What are we paying Doc for if he needs an advisor?  I liked Flip when he was with the Pistons.
