So in the Omar Asik post on the main page it mentions that Kevin Garnett does not want to continue to play the Center position if he returns next year.  He wants to move back to PF.

Does this change your feelings towards bringing KG back?  Part of the reason the team had this huge turnaround midseason was Garnetts move to the center position.  A lot of people marked him done and too old and slow to keep up with the other younger PFs around the league.

KG has done many great things for us, but I dunno about this.  We've yet to see a direct quote from Garnett himself about this, but if true, how could he not see the huge difference in his play at the Center position??

I'd want Garnett back just solely for the reason of him setting the tone and attitude for the youth that we start to bring in.  However, if he demands to move back to PF that might change how much money I'm willing to spend on him.

If this is true, it does make it harder to build a better team for next year.  His offense and defense at the center spot is far better than most of the other starters in the league and it's (relatively) easier to find a PF that can defend and rebound as well as a provide some offense) than to find a center that does those things.

I'm cool with KG at the 4, especially if he plays like he did in the second half of last year and the playoffs.

The trick is to not play a glacial dinosaur alongside him regardless of whether it is a 4 or a 5.

I've been digging the Camby idea. He's still mobile enough, very efficient, and can hold down the fort in the paint when KG sits.

This may be the sticking point for a return of KG to Celtics.  I really don't blame him either... DA needs to get somebody better than our bench srubs to start at Center. TRaded away Perk , so now were are hurtin for certain.

There are a few Centers available.  It appears they are just going to cost an arm and leg to get.  But, I want KG back  .....Asik, Lopez , CAMby , SOMEBODY better than what we got . Pleazzzze.

Adding a player to help KG out will be the best way to make KG happy, whether or not its a "4" or a "5" won't matter very much.

Asik is an excellent defensive player, I'd love to have him. Though I have my doubts about the price it'd cost to get him away from Chicago.

I don't know the numbers or anything and know hea up there in age but wasn't Camby one of the best or better rebounders last year? It is exactly what we need

Yep...I'm all for Camby , he has amazing energy and a better attitude than he did when he was 25 years old, moves 100X better than old tired JO did..  And then draft a young Center to go along with KG and CAMBY ... LIKE Fab Mello and see then see what Williams can add this summer.

Too bad he is a better C than PF by far.

I am sure KG does want to move back to PF but I doubt it's a deal-breaker.

Just keep doing what is in the best interests of the team. KG will fill the role he is asked to fill.

Yea seriously is KG more effective on defense out on the perimeter guarding odom's and ryan anderson, or when he is down low controlling the paint and still  hhaving the ability to guard the pick and roll ?

We only need some beef to come off the bencch to give KG a rest for about 15 mins a game and to defend Howard and Bynum.

By the way KG has been playing center since 2008 when Posey played PF for the majority of the time .

Just get a BBD type that can play backup center in the draft(hopefully taller and less fatness  )

Another guy I'd consider at the C: Sam Dalembert.

He has one more year on his contract, but it is only partially guaranteed for $1.5 million if he is released on or before July 8th.

While it's unlikely the Celtics could acquire him on draft night, it is possible he could be traded to a team looking to create cap space who would then release him, thereby making him a free agent this summer.

I bet Sam would get a lot of interest on the open market, though.

So in the Omar Asik post on the main page it mentions that Kevin Garnett does not want to continue to play the Center position if he returns next year.  He wants to move back to PF.

Does this change your feelings towards bringing KG back?

As has been mentioned in other threads, the title of "Center" and "Power Forward" are irrelevant.  If we have another tall dude with game who can play next to KG, we will be fine.

It seems to be relevant to KG.

I like the idea of Camby. I still think we should draft a legit big this summer, but Camby, despite being 38, has been relatively injury-free in recent years and averaged 9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game last season. He's a solid rebounder and defender; start him next to KG, bring back Wilcox and Steamer, get a decent big in the draft, and maybe Sean Williams impresses as well—I think that's a solid frontcourt (and I didn't even mention JJJ, who could possibly become a regular contributor).

I'd be fairly curious about what he did that he was objecting to. Playing on the low post on offense? Defending close to the basket? Having to do a lot of defensive rebounding?
