what about wilcox? hes the big unknown that everyone keeps forgetting about. we barely got a glimpse of him last year before he had to be sidelined. will he be back? or is it too soon?

teams dont win championships without legit centers or pf's that can move to the center spot.

2011 - Dallas - Chandler
2010 - Lakers - Bynum Gasol
2009 - Lakers - Bynum Gasol
2008 - Celtics - Perkins
2007 - Spurs - Duncan
2006 - miami - Shaq
2005 - Spurs - Duncan
2004 - Pistons - Wallace
2003 - Spurs - Duncan
2002 - Lakers - Shaq
2001 - Lakers - Shaq
2000 - Lakers Shaq

Well it looks like Thunder/Heat are bucking the trend. But no matter what happens this year size still matters in game of basketball. I hope Celtics go Free-Agent route to find help for KG. Drafting a big man would be a useless acquisition for now. Celtics have championship aspirations next year.

BTW you forget pseudo Centers: Dirk, KG, Rasheed....

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The Celtics have been at their best with a legitimate center in the lineup. Usually, we need more than one. It's a definite need, even with the most optimistic predictions for a 37 year old KG.

Of course, the bigger need is just more talent. I'd rather draft talent and potential over need right now.

KG is a PF playing Center. As effective as he was, itll be a huge risk if we log him a ton of minutes going against guys who are more of the times stronger than him. Sure he creates mismatches for them offensively, but it'll take a toll on an already old KG, we should have at least a legit one even as a backup.

SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons

Still, not exactly a need. Worst case scenario we get our PF to play center and go smallball.

It is a need and has been since Perk left,  you can't rely on small ball it's something that works in stretches but you don't want to always go there

You can never get enough bigs and we got pounded on the glass.   I for one would take another big be it C or PF.

  • You say when......
I would say we do need a center..kg is older, and better used as a 4, then we can also double down on teams with a center and him....but, we need a moving center, rebounder, shot blocker, one who can put the ball up for a decent try, and 1.....!  Steam and hollins might be good, after the summer camps....I would invest in them...besides....they ask for small $$$...more to get others....! We NEED a fast swingman, TA type...someone who can guard wade/lebron......

Ok......we don't need a center if it bothers somebody to call them that....but we need some true 6-11-7 ft BIG men who can play in the paint and get a rebound and protect the paint on Defense.  With Perk and Shaq HEALTHY we had a team to be feared.....no w , not so much.

I'm sure Larry Bird thought the 'Chief" was useless.  ::)

Roy Hibbert would do nicely thank you very much.  ;)

What a silly notion to play basketball with a totally short team...the cHeat is NOT a team to replicate .....One LBJ or MJ comes along every decade .. even in grade school , the capt.always picked the tallest boys first , even if they couldn't play.  You just NEEDED THEM to win... ;D

It IS a need. Small ball to me is a play that relies on speed. We don't have that speed, and we'er giving away rebounds when we play small. We need a Center, don't matter if he starts or not. We need someone who'll be a force on the boards, clog the lanes and a big body to bang against the opponents'.

KG would not be able to do all those things. You're risking serious injuries or fatigue.

Not a starting caliber one. A backup big or a starting PF who can eat minutes would work. KG is way better at the C than at the PF.
