  • Let's Go Celtics!
My revised hopeful roster for 12-13:

PG: Rajon Rondo
SG: OJ Mayo
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Royce White
C: Kevin Garnett

Bench: Avery Bradley, Jeff Green, Keyon Dooling, Big Man.

**I've gone back and forth on whether or not we should bring on another SG, but with 96 mins to divvy up at the guard positions I think bringing on another scoring threat would be a good idea. I don't know if OJ will get a qualifying offer from Memphis or not, but I seriously doubt they'll match even if they do. Danny has showed interest in Mayo in the past and I think he'll recruit him again this offseason (yeah yeah, I know - Mayo supposedly rejected the trade with Boston. But find me a source who backs that claims that other than Donny Marshall and I'll start to believe it).
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I don't usually like to do this cause it's so tough to speculate, especially predicting the direction the current celtics are heading but screw it, that's what makes it fun!

Signings: (should have roughly 32 Mill)
Kevin Garnett-8mill/1year
Brandon Bass-5mill/2years
Chris Kaman-5.5mill/2years
Jeff Green-6mill/1year
Sonny Weems-1.5mill/1year
Greg Steimsa-1.5mill/2years
Kirk Hinrich-1.2mill/1year
Shannon Brown-4mill/2years (may have to use MLE)

Draft:
Moe Harkless
Fab Melo

Pg: Rondo, Hinrich, Moore
Sg: Bradley, Brown, Hinrich, Weems
Sf: Pierce, Green, Weems, Harkless
Pf: Garnett, Bass, Green, Harkless
C: Kaman, Steimsa, Melo

I tried to keep it realistic with no trades. Alternative free agents are guys I think we can afford without breaking the bank or giving long term deals to.

Other PG options, Andre Miller, Jason Kidd, Raymond Felton

Other SG options, Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry, Nick Young, Mickael Pietrus, Deshawn Stevenson

Other SF options, Terrance Williams, Chase Budinger, Andres Nocioni, Grant Hill, Dahntay Jones

Other PF options, Kenyon Martin, Kris Humphries, Carl Landry, Antwan Jamison

Other C options are Spencer Hawes, Marcus Camby, Kwame Brown

This team may not look like a championship team but it will certainly be competetive and a little more athletic.
We don't have close to $32 million. It's under $24 assuming we keep the first round picks and renounce Bird rights to all our free agents and renounce our MLE ($5M)and BAE($2M)which otherwise are added to your salary base and reduce your available cap to spend. The way the math works, it's probably best to save the MLE, which gets you down to $19M.  Beyond that, I doubt you get KG or Bass for those numbers and it's a lock that Kaman isn't coming here for $5.5M per year after making $14M last year and still being an above average center.
