I wouldn't take the omission of Bradley as anything disrespectful. Ray has helped Bradley tremendously in honing his game. Bradley himself has said that Ray Allen really took him under his wing, and taught him a lot of things, so don't think for a second that Ray means Bradley any ill will.

Ray being hurt and his lack of D in game seven is one reason we are not in the finals.   I don't think we need him back, I for one think we should have traded him at the trade deadline and if we did it would be us in the finals.

We wouldn't have even made the Eastern Conference finals without Ray, much less game 7 of the eastern conference finals. You better get your head on straight :)

I really think that for the most part Ray brought more negative then positive this season. Bad defense, stupid turnovers, injured legs. I appreciate everything Ray has done for Boston and he's had a great career here... but I don't want him back unless it's for CHEAP money on a one year deal.

Couldnt be any more wrong honestly....we got to the eastern conference finals largely in spite of ray allen, but lets give him credit for trying...trying to do his job he gets paid millions to do

For those of you not wanting ray back, what realistic options do you think the tam has to upgrade at backup 2g?

If I remember correctly, Kevin Garnett turned the Celtics down at first, until.....Ray Allen was signed.  That is what made him decide to join the Celts originally.

Its on Ray if he wants to come back IMO....Im sure danny would love to have him back. he's said as much..I mean who doesnt want a shooter like that on their team? if you can have Jeff Green and Ray allen coming off your bench you are in GREAT shape.

the key is if Ray would be willing to accept a 6th man role to help the team win...if he decides to go somewhere else for a bigger role, then the c's could look at someone like Jaamal Crawford as a gunner to come off the bench

I would love to have Ray Allen back.

He would be a terrific 6th man (and would still be a great end-of-game option).

If he wants more money than Danny is willing to offer, or refuses to accept a 6th man role, I'd say thank you for the memories.

Well I want Ray back.
But I'd love the Celtics to pick up Jamal Crawford!

1.I was for trading Ray at 2011's deadline.
2.I was for trading him at this year's deadline.
3.I think that he was a liability in the second half of the season and especially in the playoffs.

HOWEVER, we can not let Ray Allen walk.

We have only two viable, sensible options with him: S&T him or sign him for ourselves at $5-8 million per year.

If we let Ray walk, we cannot get a free agent for his $10 million dollars that comes off the books because we are still over the cap.

Will we be overpaying if we pay him $5-8 mil for two years? Absolutely. But with only the vet minimum, the small MLE (about $3 mil/year)and perhaps the LLE (if it still exists) we can't possibly get a player close to Allen's level.

The only other option is to S&T Ray. But to whom? He obviously wants to be on a contender, and,if not start, at least play close to starter minutes. Most contenders are at or over the cap, so can only offer the small MLE to Ray. He has mentioned the cHeat, Knicks and Clippers as possible landing spots.

What could we get from them or other contenders for a S&T'd Ray?

Now that I read Bradley has to have another surgery on the OTHER shoulder , shsseee  ::) maybe we can't afford to lose Allen.

I feel Ray will rehab himself and get back in the best shape possible.

I will be glad if Ray doesn't return... not because of what Ray did but because Doc is too reliant on him. We will actually have to have a real offense without him... Doc made them screen for Ray all game every game and when he couldn't get open we were garbage. Our offense bogged down so much when people stopped Ray Allen. It's like we didn't know how to play the game if Ray couldn't break free like he normally does (too hurt to get away). It really hurt in the playoffs. When the games were close and the defense started to pick up for teams (Mia in ECF), we could not score... all I saw was RR standing with the ball at the key, waiting for Ray to get open, he couldn't and it hurt when it mattered most! I like Ray but for our team to benefit, he has to either go or get few minutes off the bench (which will never happen b/c Doc plays Ray NO MATTER what, too many minutes).
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I'd give him 5 mil for a year.  I don't see Ray playing for too many other teams due to his child's health and the fact that he lives in CT.  I think you'll see his choices limited to the Knicks, Nets, & Celtics.  Obviously the guy wants to play for a contender, he isn't going to want to play for an average team at this point in his career.  I just feel like the Celtics are that contender.  Now if KG retires, then you don't even think about resigning Allen.  If KG wants to return for a year though, bring Ray back for a year and go for it.
