Stop trying to understand the scenario because it isnt going to be possible. Technically, we could just sign him. And that would fit your scenario's needs. But he wont come to boston through trade because we dont have the assets. rondo bradley and 2 firsts arent going to be enough, plus who runs our back court? Also, I dont think howard would have boston on his wish list as a free agency target.

Not a fan of how Howard has handled this whole leaving Orlando thing.  I think he's a great fit but lost some respect for him on that one...and other than free agency ( a year away) we have no way of getting Howard

It's basically a bummer that Howard opted in for his last year because we wouldn't have to package Rondo for Howard and sign Deron, we could just sign Howard to play with Rondo and have all of the pieces and picks we already have.

A major shake-up certainly isn't out of the question, though.

With Dwight Howard opting into his contract, I think that ruled out the possibility of Boston signing him as a free agent.

Mostly likely is a salary cap issue. DW will need at least 17-18k for a year.
