the thing is, these rumors are started by delusional "heat loving" analysts who think every player wants to go and play for Miami for peanuts...

they leave out the fact that Miami can only offer about $3million and 15minutes a night while...even if he leaves the C's, other teams like the Clippers can offer more money and a bigger role

even the Celtics have alot better chance..

You hate him for unconfirmed rumors and have basically called him a b**** for getting upset when the team he loved tried to trade him. You hold him to standards I doubt you would live by yourself. Your post is a joke. Guys like you are why guys like LeBron aren't wrong for leaving their teams. You only love the player when he can do something for you, but once he starts thinking about himself all of a sudden he's a jerk. What a joke.

Amen.

Rather disturbing how tribal, judgmental, and entitled fans can be.

You know they say "it's a business" about the NBA...

GM's can trade players like cards .. so why can't players go where they want ?

Well in this case it's the Heat, and Lebron.. so much for "celtics pride" .

In my book this would be a b*tch move by Ray and to be honest I've grown to hate him throughout this season, total waste not to trade him.

Should have moved him even for a 2nd rounder.

I know he's been surrounded by rumours the last few years and especially this year and his "rifts" with Rondo. But what a b*tch move it would be to go to the Heat.

why can't he go back to being this kid again ...
not that it matters to me anymore.. good riddance

Ray if you read this just know that this guy does not represent me or Celtics blog. He's just one guy. It's probably a trick of some Heat poster. Just ignore it. Everything is ok. We love you man.

An S&T to the Heat could provide Ray a decent salary and net another asset (#27 or Norris Cole?) to the C's.

If Ray went to the Heat, I'd understand it's business, but at the same time I'd hope Boston fans boo the heck out of him every time he plays in Boston.  Any other team (except the Lakers) you could cheer him.  If he goes to the Heat, boo him hard.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yes, but the question is what to take back to make salaries match (S. Battier + J. Anthony?).
Celtics fan for life.

Right.  And again, this is the problem with all of the Big Three trade scenarios.  Unless we trade to a team below the cap, whatever we trade away we're more or less going to have to take back.

None of us knows what Ray really wants, but if I had to guess I think it's important to him that he gets a chance to start, which is why a Boston return is unlikely.  And a close second is a contending team so he can go for another ring.  I'm sure the money is a factor too, but maybe not top priority.  He can sign for MLE with a lot of very good teams.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Why exactly do you hate him?
If he goes to the Heat it's because they are giving him money and he can win. But it's very unlikely he does. They can't afford him and he will be another corner three point shooter like James Jones.
I think the guy has tremendous heart and team spirit accepting his role on the bench and playing through the pain like he has done. He's given everything to this team and as fans we owe him more than 'hate' for unsubstantiated rumors or here-say.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Business for me, I was all for trading him at the trade deadline.   With a little more pop and lateral D I think we would have been in the finals.   Ray earned his right to choose any team he wants as I see it.

As long as he doesn't ever wear Purple and Gold I don't care where he plays

Why play in Miami for less $ and a reduced role? Clippers, Chicago, TWolves, Knicks, Thunder, Magic and Celtics all make more sense.

Exactly.  The rush to demonize Ray needs to slow down.

He is not going to be in Miami next year, they currently have $78 million on the books for salary in 2012-13, and he is not going to beat Dwyane out for the starting 2 spot.  What could they offer that the Celtics cannot?  The Miami rumor is just plain silly.

The Clips have $57 mill in salary and NY has $61, so unless I am missing something they cannot offer Ray more than (I assume) we would either.

I love Ray and want to see him and the rest of the crew back for at least one more year.
