Says or perhaps speculates take your pick Ray will consider Boston first and will see what PP and KG are doing, but more likely to stay if they return.

Let Ray walk.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

He's not getting big bucks anywhere, so he might as well stick around and get his groove back.

Bring him back at the right place. A two year 10 mill deal sounds right. 4.5 this year and 5.5 next year.

Ray's gone in my opinion, he agreed to come off the bench for a portion of a shortened season, but he didn't like it. I think there's a very slim chance he wants to do that for an entire year.

They are all proud men, but I'd bet when his ankles were biting him, he wished AB was there and that he  was coming off the bench for fewer minutes.

I hope the surgery went well and Ray will be back to his usual superproductive magical shooting next year, and extend his record.

He won't be starting for a contender anywhere.

Let's not forget that this happened two years ago with Ray.  The media kept talking about how "contenders" like Miami desperately wanted Ray Allen and how he'd likely leave.  What these media pundits totally disregarded in all of this speculation was that most of the teams that desperately wanted Ray didn't have any cap space.

While things are different this year with Avery Bradley supplanting him in the starting lineup and DA almost trading him, I think we could see much of the same happen this offseason.

Sure, Miami would probably love him.  But guess what, he's not starting there either.  And he's no lock to start in Chicago either, where Rip Hamilton could return and C.J. Watson needs minutes.  Furthermore, with Rose having a torn ACL, is Chicago really still a contender?

Ultimately, while there's a smaller chance of him coming back, DA can still offer him more money than anyone else.  And if the C's aren't going to spend it on a big name free agent, it couldn't hurt to overpay Ray for a year.

I also don't see why Doc and Danny couldn't give Ray the KG treatment.  Let him start the game for the sake of his pride, but then pull him 5-7 minutes in for Bradley.  Keep the minutes the same as they would be, but just let him start.  Because if Jeff Green is back next year, the C's could actually bring in a running unit to close the first quarter with Bradley and Green coming in for some combination of Ray/PP/KG around the 6 minute mark.

+1000 totally agree. The more we wait, and don;t get an answer, the bigger the chances for the whole band to be back, imo. And we really have a nice team, tbh. With additions like Green, Wilcox, and healthy Ray, and PP

Perfect analysis IMO.  TP.

TP Jon - pretty much my sentiments all around.

KG, Pierce and Ray have huge value still. People think Ray has lost it - meanwhile he's running around out there with bone spurs, checking Wade and putting up 16 points most nights.

get him right, get him back, with KG. Let these guys continue to work with our young for another year.

And true, if starting is an issue for Ray - while I don't prefer it, start him and bring Bradley off the bench. And exactly, play Ray KG minutes.

Tell Bradley he has the opp to be sixth man of the year - go get it! I think Bradley could suck it up for one more year of what should be a 12-13 year career...

It's a team game, figure out the way.

I'm sure KG would be fine with a one year deal - probably prefer it because if he was really hurting by season's end next year and he had a two year contract he'd probably feel super obligated to honor the deal he made. He'd probably LOVE a one year deal.

Ray, probably a two year deal - but if it's at the right money - he'll be well worth it. For what he does on the court and perhaps even more so what he does off the court with the young kids.

I hope we don't see too much of the big three on the court at the same time, it makes us too unathletic.

Yeah agreed.

By moving KG to C and having Bradley/Rondo/Pierce/*Generic PF* we're so much quicker than Rondo/Big 3/*Generic Center*
