The celtics biggest need is probably center if kg moves back to pf which has been well documented he would prefer to play there.

Chris is a legit 7 footer who is active on both ends, not a terrible athlete at all for his size, can score in the low post with either hand and has some nice moves, can hit that mid range jumper that rondo gives to every big, and he would allow bass to move back to the bench where he is much more effective.

While I agree this move will not make me do cartwheels we can do a lot worse. I would think at this point in his career he would take a pay cut to join a contender because nobody is paying him what he made on his last contract.

I have two questions that I must ask about every proposed free agent or draft pick or trade target:

Will this player fit into the culture of the Celtics?
Will this player fit into the defensive team identity of the Celtics?

I am fully expecting the Celtics to make a strong run at him.

Just like any strong free agent out there, it depends on price and KG.

Kaman is too injury prone and past his prime to be paid something in the range of $40 over 4 years.

If he'll pair up with KG for $20/2 or less, sign me up.

I can't imagine he would demand a ton of money unless he wants to play for a non contender but if the celtics give him 12-14/2 years he would be a nice pick up.

As far as fitting in with the celtics I could absolutely see it, he's a high character guy who works his tail off and has become a very good rebounder and we all know the celtics woes in that department.

With career averages of 12 points, 8 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and an efficiency rating of +15 I would welcome him with open arms.

Yet another old, slow, and oft-injured center? No thank you.

How do we do it under the cap if KG comes back?  If KG doesn't come back, why would we do this?

KG resigns at a lower salary than his current figure and we'll be left with cap room depending on our other moves.

if you believe efficiency will the ball is important then kaman was one the worse players in the league last year, shot 40 something percent and is turnover prone.

Even if we get all the way to the cap we'd still have the MLE, I'm sure if everybody was on board Danny could make it work.

There's not many other options out there.

It would be a decent fallback option but it wouldn't be my first choice.

That would be Andrei Kirilenko.

New Orleans was a mess last year with the whole chris paul fiasco..his career numbers of 49% field goals and under two turnovers a game are a better read.

I agree the guy is far from perfect but there's not many better options out there and the guy does a number of things well that would help this team.

Fair point, but he plays like he's 40 with the way he moves around.
