I will start off by stating the obvious. WE ARE OLD! Not only are we old we are injury prone  >:(.

I will also state that out of all years this is the year i believe we need to rely on the draft rather than anything else. We need to work the draft and get all we can out of it. FA is weak and all the somewhat worthwhile candidates are restricted, which will require us to overpay. I say why overpay for mediocre players when we can get that in the draft?

We also know we are hurting for solid big men right? Now as we all know that the theme for this year’s draft is what? BIG MEN! If we go for big men in the draft and strike out we will still have money to look forward to in FA next year where we can get worthwhile big men. Basically what I’m saying is us Celtics fans are TRUE fans and want to see every player on the team have success no matter who they are. We will ignore their faults and not focus on moving forward.

The worst possible thing that can happen is to have a broken bench! We don’t need injury prone players on our bench as that is what hurt us this season. Not only that the bench is OLD AND HURT this cannot happen, because now we are holding on to what the players USE to do instead of what they are doing now (pietrus).

This is what I want to happen:

Let’s say the salary cap is 60m for this coming season.

Keeping:

*Roughly

Rondo- 11m

PP- 16.8m

AB- 1.6m

JJJ- 1.1m

Steamer- 1.1m

Moore- 762k
-----------------------
This is 21.362m *roughly

So we have roughly 38.638m left and this is what we do.

Resign:

KG 1yr 8m
Ray 1yr 5m
---------------------
Now we have 25m left under cap and this is where it gets interesting.

We trade the hornets for their 10th pick by getting Ariza who is earning 7m a year. (From what i heard we pick up his contract and we will receive the 10th pick)

Then (if allowed) we trade Bass and our 2nd to the cavs for their 2 2nd round picks.

Now we have 10th pick, 21st pick, 22nd pick, 33rd, 34th + Ariza.

Package 21 + 22nd + 34 and get bucks 12th

Using the mock draft from http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2012/

10th pick = PJ3

12th pick = Myers Leonard

34th pick = Deron Lamb
-----------------------------------------

2012/2013 roster will be

Rondo/ AB / Moore
Avery Bradley / Allen/ Lamb / Moore
Paul pierce/ Ariza / PJ3
JJJ / PJ3 / Steamer or Garnett
Garnett/ Meyers Lenored/ Steamer

6th man Ray Allen(depending on injury) or Ariza

This roster will be probably around 5m under cap still and will probably be KG's and RA's last year. We will have fresh young legs and plenty of new toys for Rondo to play with. Most importantly we won’t feel like we are wasting money on crappy FA’s and will have money to spend on FA’s next year once KG and RA leave.

The only thing i did not do was work out the minuets, i figured if someone like this direction they could do that part but the main point is to cut the big 3's mins A LOT.

Honestly, If this was to happen i wouldn't start KG or Ray until after the all-star break if needed.

kinda tough to bring back the whole band, and go young at the same time.

to me, Rondo's prime too valuable to risk a youth movement.

regardless we will still have a Vet core with Ariza, Rondo, Big 3 so we wont be to young. The young legs is just the way to go right now. Instead of having a complete rebuild we will be rebuilding on the fly the very best way.

We can not trade for Ariza before July 1st. So there is no way we can take him in a draft day trade. The only way to do that deal would be a shady "wink-wink" handshake deal that would be completed after July 1

yeah i wasn't sure about that because i know on 2k all free agents are basically free agents during the draft, so the cap would be in effect.

Although this would be my dream scenario, like stated previously the salary cap does not work out
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

The Celts biggest hole is the Center position.

Rondo/Bradley/Pierce is already a top defensive backcourt, Ariza & his bad contract would only prevent the devolpment of the draft picks that (ironicly) he'd net us...

I just don't see KG signing here for $8M when some team will offer him twice that.  I think if we don't come close to matching the offers he will retire.

Exactly what are we trading to NO to get this lottery pick?  They can't just give Ariza to us, we'd have to match salaries with either a player of our own or a trade exception.  And we'd have to give up something for the pick, they are not giving that away.

I think this destroys your whole plan.

Gone, Gone, Gone! It's time to head towards a new direction. Dooling is only good for LOOKING LIKE HE CAN PLAY D. Dont like him as a back up.

Everyone else is facing injures why continue to waste cap and roster space?

I disagree as i actually like Ariza and he is young himself. I dont think 7m a year is really all that bad neither. Honestly im on the fence about Rays return more than anyone else. Hes older and coming off the injury that put miller out.

Nah wouldn't say that in that case we just trade a player for it. (Bass, Moore, Steamer) Depending on what they want. To my understanding they just wanted to get rid of his contract, either way it can be done for bass's or for one of the others.

KG is chasing a ring, he wont sign for the raptors for 16m a year. He know he is far to old to put a team on his back and attempt to carry them. No other contender (playoff team) will have the cap space to keep him. If we show him we have the players for a championship push he will take 8m. Also, we have plenty of extra cap space so we can throw more money at him if needed.

You're starting 3J with PJ3 to back him up?  Yikes!
