Look, if he can be a solid rotation guy who gives you 15 minutes a game that will be brilliant for a guy picked 27th in the draft. I think we need to temper our expectations. He was not a top ten pick.
Additionally he did not get minutes this year because he was really a tweener between the Power Forward and Small Forward which we were in a better place depth wise. He is never playing the 5. I think he may get run as a 3 some in a larger line up.

Thanks for posting the clip. I'm optimistic. It would be great to see he and Sean Williams contribute and make big strides next season.

He's long, he's fast, he's quick laterally, he has a decent offensive game for a rookie, he plays above the rim, he's aggressive in the paint, aggressive after the ball on shot blocks and rebounding.

I am particularly interested in hsi value as a help defender with his lateral quickness back and forth in the paint - he is really fast for a 6'10" guy - unusually fast.

For me it really hinges on JJJ being able to add about 15-20 pounds of weight - and the equivalent or more in strength.

If he can do that I don't project him as a starter, but I think he should without question be able to be a solid, high energy contributor off the bench, which as someone else said, would be great value for a 27th pick.

A little time before we write him off would be good. If he goes through a summer of weight training, pro league and then a full training camp and then has shown little to no progress by mid year to 3/4 of the way through next season, doubt will start creeping in for me.

I'm looking for incremental improvement that you can see is heading towards some intermittent break through games, to consistency as a role player...

I think the tools are there - can he get the muscle?

All those trashin jjj seem to forget about avery bradley and wat happened to him this year

Absolutely not. Bradley started his rookie season rehabbing an injury. By mid-season he was dominating in the D-league, and by the end of it he was scoring in the 20's for the Celtics while the stars rested up for the playoffs.

JJJ has had no such trajectory. Started healthy, finished healthy, showed no signs of improvement.

Ditto.

As with Bradley coming into this season, I think patience is the operative word with JJ. He had no training camp and barely played during the regular season

Ditto.

I remain optimistic about JJJ.

Eh, I could point out all sorts of things that would invalidate the comparison.

But just be patient. Way too early to judge.

Can't wait to see what he does in summer league. He should (and he MUST) kick some ass in summer league. If he doesn't, I think I'll lose hope.
