He's long, he's fast, he's quick laterally, he has a decent offensive game for a rookie, he plays above the rim, he's aggressive in the paint, aggressive after the ball on shot blocks and rebounding.
I am particularly interested in hsi value as a help defender with his lateral quickness back and forth in the paint - he is really fast for a 6'10" guy - unusually fast.
For me it really hinges on JJJ being able to add about 15-20 pounds of weight - and the equivalent or more in strength.
If he can do that I don't project him as a starter, but I think he should without question be able to be a solid, high energy contributor off the bench, which as someone else said, would be great value for a 27th pick.
A little time before we write him off would be good. If he goes through a summer of weight training, pro league and then a full training camp and then has shown little to no progress by mid year to 3/4 of the way through next season, doubt will start creeping in for me.
I'm looking for incremental improvement that you can see is heading towards some intermittent break through games, to consistency as a role player...
I think the tools are there - can he get the muscle?
