I love Ray Allen as much as the next guy but we need some young legs and he will be a 36 year old player coming off of bone spurs surgery. And dont want to sign him a 2-3 year deal either. If we can get him cheap for 1 year, I do it. But doubt it. Remember folks, NBA is a business no matter how loyalty there is. This team got to get better to compete with Chicago and Miami and if we have the same team next year, wont make it.
If you can come up with a way to make the team better with Ray walking away for nothing, please share your plan.

Bring him back.  He has the work ethic to right his wounded ship after surgery. He has at least one more good year as a sharp shooter.

ray wasn't happy with rondo, nor was he happy coming off the bench.  i assume he will walk from the celts.

I've seen nor heard any real evidence of this other than conjecture and mind reading from reporters trying to make stories. What I saw was Ray being complimentary of his entire team in that less press conference and particularly the other members of the Big 4.  Sign me up for him and KG on 2 year deals with the second a player option no trade clauses and the him KG and Pierce walking away together hopefully with at least 1 more ring.

Ray Allen played 38 minutes on a basically one healthy ankle in Game 7.

Give Ray two healthy ankles and let's really see if he can't get separation from his defenders on a nightly basis.

I still see Ray can play effectively for 29-31 minutes a night and Bradley can receive the remaining time playing the 2 and baking up the 1 with Dooling.

Pietrus and Green can back up the 3 with Green getting some minutes at the 4 backing up Bass too.

You guys have to realize that this team was basically a 6-7 man team in the playoffs. It was our starting 5 with a sprinkle of a concussed Pietrus and Dooling. Steamer and Hollins make rare token appearances in the game.

We need to give a full squad a real look and we should do that next season.

There really isn't anyone that great out there this summer.

On the one hand, he's an over-the-hill shooting guard who plays average-at-best defense with multiple ankle surgeries who has basically been reduced to a spot up shooter and a spacing distraction.

On the other hand, he's Ray Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing Allen. The most prolific three-point shooter of all time, a member of the big three, the guy who toiled away his best years in Milwaukee and Seattle before he finally came to Boston and helped Pierce and KG bring another banner to the Garden.

If he's really serious about not retiring, I say bring him back.

I don't get this. PP and RA, were injured throughout 100% of the postseason, and playing injured they got really nice numbers, and an admirable performance.
You are trying to tell me that healthy but 1 year older they aren't going to be better? I'm not buying it.

Would Queen lEbron play with a sprained MCL? don't think so. Would Princess Dwade play with bone spurs in his ankle? don't think so. Would any of those other scrubs play with a shoulder that pops in and out just by looking at it? don't think so.

Will they be older? YES. But this is a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to pass the torch. There is a lot to learn from these guys, and people like, Moore, Green, Bradley, Stiemsma, will have tons to learn from them if they stay. Just bring them back. And some one else said this in another thread, i'm to lazy to look it up, it was something like Doc Rivers ain't gettin' paid for total rebuilding.

I think Ray will come off the bench no matter where he plays next season. Walter Ray Allen will be 37 in a month and that's ooolllddd, especially after a long career such as his. 37 is old in NBA terms. His role will not change much, just his minutes.

I hope Ray's surgery goes well.

There's a reason that Jackie M. has had the best, unprecedented access to Celtics players of any journalist for three ****' decades: she doesn't write stories based on conjecture and mind reading.
