I love this team too much to let it die this way, and I think Doc and Danny do too. I think (and hope) the offseason unfolds like this.
The draft: Danny gets creative and turns our four picks into a higher draft pick and a good trade. Not naming names I don't know.
Free agency: We have the dough to be aggressive with some restricted free agents but still not overpay and you know Danny will not...
Ray doesn't pursue free agency he goes and gets ankle surgery and chills.
KG goes home and chills, contemplates retirement but the other 3 are calling him texting him and the fire is not out...so he's still in the gym and running on the beach.
Danny and Doc are building a roster (free agent signings Jeff Green returns) but its not complete. Late July/August rolls around and KG and Ray have gotten several free agent offers but have only half-heartedly listened.
What happens they both sign two year deals with the second year a player option at about 3.5 million per I don't know what world you guys live in but neither are minimmum deal guys both sill play at a high level (Contrary to opinion around here Ray wants stability not money give him a couple of years 3 million and a no trade clause...he has a daugther in college in New England and a young son who has a relationship with the hospitals in Boston...DUH... he wants to stay) and the band gets back together with the big 3 looking into the sunset but not riding off there yet...
Roster guess....
Starters:
C:Free Agent (Jason Thompson?) or Rookie (Fab Melo?)
PF: Josh Smith (other free agent)
SF: Paul Pierce
SG: Avery Bradley
PG: Rondo
Bench
PG:?
SG: Ray Allen
SF (and 6th man) Jeff Green
PF: Sean Williams
C: Kevin Garnett
Result more HAVOC in the East and we still 1 title in the next two years then Pierce, KG and Ray walk off into the sunset TOGETHER and our new core of young veterans led by Rondo keep the band playing.....nice dream/plan huh?
