It may just be me but I do think Paul Pierce may retire. I just didnt see the fire in him this year and he does has alot of mileage on those legs. Or he may play one more year since he has an option left but i dont see him playing after next

this was an exhausting year for him.  jeff green was to play a big role in relieving him of minutes.  plus the condensed season made it tough due to so many games in close proximity of each other.  and lastly.....he was playing hurt

No way he leaves 14 mil on the table, he is playing next year. I think that MCL sprain really screwed him for the playoffs. I heard a stat on the radio saying he shot around 26% on shots outside of 10 feet in the playoffs. Thats not the real PP, let him get a summer's rest, get some legit backup sf(green) who can give him some actual rest and reload the team for 1 more run so that the big 3's contracts can all come off the books in 2013 when there will be a very good free agent class.

No way ... he has already said more than once this year that he loves playing basketball too much to retire at his age ... that he would love to retire as a Celtic, but if they want to trade him now, he still wants to play ball. The guy just plain loves the game to much to give it up yet.

I feel like if KG and Ray are both gone, Pierce may be too.  He was a part of many mediocre teams before the big 3 and if those guys leave and aren't immediately replaced by All Stars, he may not be too excited to come back.  It may not be retirement, he could discreetly ask Danny to try and send him to a west coast contender(LAClippers, Houston, Portland, Golden State-depending on how they're offseasons go).  With that said, I hope he's back and retires as a Celtic when he's ready.

it all hinges on KG....woj mentioned last week that theres movement from the celtics/kg's camp to bring him back on a 1year deal.

the free agent market this summer is NOT good...considering we HAVE to spend money, its probably in Ainge's best interest to just bring the gang back and sign guys like Jeff Green to one year deals

I don't think any of Pierce, KG, or Ray are retiring.  They all can still play and earn money doing the thing they do best which is playing basketball. Why retire?  It's not like any of them can earn a better loving doing something else. Let this loss sink in and use the summer to reflect, and they will all be back, just not sure who will be in a Celtics uniform.

Nah, Pierce will be back. He's got another few years in him.

In the postgame interview, he said he has two more years to go or something to that effect. He will not retire.

Yeah it's just you. Pierce said after game that he hopes they bring KG back next season for another run.  He didn't mention Ray though.

Whenever they showed McHale and Danny sitting in the bleachers watching the Combine a few days ago, Kevin was rubbing his arthritic knees the whole time. He still hobbles around on a bad ankle.

That would be an uncomfortable life. That's what Pierce was talking about earlier this season.

I think sports science might be showing that players have more than post concussion syndrome to worry about after retirement.

if you were KG or Ray, and you saw how quickly Danny was willing to ship the face of the Celtics to a broke, joke franchise like the Nets, would you want to come back here for another year and risk being traded?

that's what worries me, and it wouldn't surprise me if it took something out of Pierce this year to know he was almost gone.

It will depend highly on KG coming back. He already knows Ray Allen is done as an effective starter. Thats why he said the other day that he would love to retire with KG, with no mention of Allen.

If KG is not coming back, Pierce won't retire but won't be happy either. Prob better to trade him to another contender then and try to get a nice pick

I love Ray, but unless he is "all in" as a bench warming role player with a team friendly deal, I don't want him back. He looked too broke down this season and missed too many shots he used to make with ease constantly. I think he was hurting us last night and many times during the playoffs. He needs to get those wheels fixed and accept role playing and then I would want him coming off our bench for spot minutes only. But I don't want him being a starter anymore. He's just getting too slow and full games make him ineffective for the most part.

I do want Pierce and KG back though. And both of them need QUALITY relief or MAJOR HELP elsewhere, except Rondo of course.

If either KG or Ray come back, it will be for a one year deal.  Unless they are renounced, and signed to vet min deals, they will have automatic no-trade clauses.  They may make that demand anyways.  They should.
