After the series he had and season I think it is a guarantee that he gets at least a BBD type contract. If that's the case then I would just let him walk and spend a few extra mil more on a legit starting PF.

Illyasova is the main guy that comes to mind. A legit 7 footer, has more range than Bass, better rebounder than bass, can run the floor just as well as bass (if not better).

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Bass back if he picks up his option, but I don't see the point in tying up that much money in a guy who is a 3rd big man on a chamionship caliber team.

Oh by the way if we resign Green he can take some of the backup pf mins along with our draft picks(Royce White, Terrence Jones, Draymond Green ) and JJJ next season .

I think Bass is a goner.

Most likely, yes.

I can see him being used to move up in the draft. I can't see him and Jeff Green both on the same team money-wise. I think Ainge's ability to find a steal in Bass makes me confident he can do something similar with another player. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but an athletic, strong undersized PF who can hit a midrange shot seems to be kind of easy to find.

It was just reported that he would love to be back but obviously that doesn't mean he won't opt out.....just means he'd give the celtics first shot

Yeah Bass has said a few times actually throughout this season that he loves Boston and wants to keep playing here.  So if Boston shows him enough money that he's okay with, then I think he stays.

But if Boston offers him a contract way below what he feels he's worth, then he's gone.

Boston is his first choice though.

I'm not sure what the right price is for Brandon Bass.  Ersan Ilyasova seems to be everybody's darling right now.  If those two came at the exact same price, I'm not entirely sure which one I'd take at this point, though.

Something tells me that Brandon will come cheaper.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I really like Bass' Celtic career shaky postseason aside. But if he comes back we need to finding a starting PF - not Green who's also undersized. He'll be great off the bench and I think he needs to be paid as such. He says he wants to be back so I hope both sides can agree on something reasonable.

He is all in love with Doc's daughter I'm sure he'll be back.

I'm sure he did. A lot of emotion right now. Guys love this franchise.

But at the end of the day, in  a few months when it comes down to money, Mr. Bass will go where the GREEN is... and when I say green, I'm talkin about the money

I would love for Bass to come back as a bench player, but at the right price, of course. Danny Ainge originally got him as a Big Baby replacement, and that really meant he was supposed to be a reliable big off the bench. Yet, what we realized was he can be a reliable starter. I'd definitely want him back, but as a bench player. That said, I'm not entirely sure how a Stiemsma-Bass backup frontcourt rotation would seem.

Man, you can't do anything besides post poisonous cynicism under the guise of realism, can you?  Your life must really suck because all you do is cry about worst case scenario in every scenario as if it's the only possible way it could happen.

Bass is a good piece to a big 4, but I'm not sure he is a starting calibre PF unless you have a Deng at SF to account for some rebounding.  Granted not having a talented big to anchor the defense off the bench didn't help, and Bass' skill set was very complimentary to Rondo and this team, but I'm tired of being out rebounded every game.  Seeing the opposing team pick up 20 offensive rebounds after quality defensive possessions, every game and costing us playoff games because we can't get a rebound.

Resign Bass, but I still maintain the best and most probable chance at success for the Celtics is to get Josh Smith.  Give Bass a big one year deal and see how he handles a real full season.  Honestly, we could very well have easily won the championship this year if we were even moderately healthy.  Injuries have completely ravaged this team.  Even if we just return the same guys from next year, despite age, if Green/Greg/Wilcox/Bradley/Ray/Pierce are healthy, even with the big 3's diminishing returns, the Celtics can be a contender next year iwth the same core unit.

Next season:

Rondo / Dooling / Moore
Bradley / Ray / Moore
Pierce / Green / Pietrus
Bass / Green / JuJuan
KG / Wilcox / Stiemsma /Hollins

That's an incredibly deep team with lots of versatility and defense.

I would love to see a lineup of..
Rondo
Bradley
Green
Bass
Wilcox

I actually agree with Dime here on this one. Right now we got a ton of raw emotion in a lockerroom full of guys that were a team in every sense of the word and acted like a family. I don't doubt in his heart of hearts Bass does want to come back. But him signing a 1 year deal does not serve his purpose. To come back net year on a team that may have more big man options  and less opportunity to shine as much as he did this year. If Bass is smart he will opt out and test FA and if need be, give everyone a hug on the way out the door and sign the best deal he can get. I don't think Boston is gonna commit to him this offseason and it makes no sense for Danny to do that anyway.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
He's on record that he clearly wants to be here but on the other hand he wants to be here for more than 2 years, as he is sick of being the 2 year Guy.

If he opts out, I'd say good luck to him (and I mean it in a very appreciative way). But I hope he stays. Remember he's supposed to be an off the bench guy promoted to starter because of injuries. If he plays in the same level, gives us same or close production coming off the bench,m it will be huge. If we could find another PF or C (preferably PF, KG is flourishing at Center even though he does not want to be there) and move him off the bench, we'll have a very good front court rotation.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace
