I really really hope not. I honestly feel like we can make a similar run next year, as long as we just stay healthy. Of course , that's a lot tougher than it sound

Too bad this is a lousy free agent class. Not a lot out there that can keep Boston relevant

I hope not.  I almost thought I could hear KG telling Doc that he wants to be back next year when they were hugging at the end of the game. Come on back, Ticket.

No reason for Paul not to be back either.  He's under contract, and I don't see Danny trading him.  If you are a team with a real top level young prospect, I don't see why you are trading him for Paul Pierce.  And, to be honest, I know there's supposed to be no sentimentality when making business decisions and all that, but I just don't think you can trade a legend like Paul Pierce.  Even from a purely cold and calculated business perspective, trading Paul Pierce away will always be a big risk.

Bradley, Jeff Green and whoever we sign as KG's primary back up have to do the following next year and we will be in the title hunt:

1. They have to play significant minutes behind all three.

2. They have to take ownership of those minutes and learn how to win games not just play back up minutes.

As coach I would ride Bradley, Jeff Green and KG's backup all night every game they have it going and try to get them as much experience and burn all season as I could - I already know what our big three can do when the playoffs come.

Grow the team next from the bottom up, the youth up...

We do that and we'll be "way tough" come playoff time - as good a shot as anyone to get a title.

If we could add say Varejao and Asik to the C's and remain relatively healthy we would become a very scary team. Pipe dream but fun to think of these scenarios.

You did.

I saw it too.

But folks, if we bring them back.... It's gotta be short term, and cheap.

The team just flat out needs to be changed. This group isn't gonna get it done. This is when it's hard to separate your emotions from the reality. I understand...

But the days of KG-Ray-Paul as the "big 3" are over.

We need guys in the draft that can play from day one. No more jjj or Moores who are never going to do anything for this franchise

Or if we could add Illyasova, Aaron Gray (cheap and all we need for 15 minutes a night along with Steamer) and an off guard like Alonzo Gee we could be a very bruising team next year.

As has been mentioned in the past, it doesn't make sense to start making 2004 Pistons decisions.  They don't have to win it all next year.  The free agent class isn't strong.  String it out.  Use our veterans as teachers and mentors and spend the next couple of years looking for the cheaper variety of young prospects either through the draft, free agency, or even smaller trades.  Let's get some players to go along with Rondo who we can develop as either tradable assets or players to keep.

Make the three of them come off the books in the same year, and make that the splash year with plenty of cap space and most likely a good draft position.

Don't rush this.  Do it carefully, and we can bridge the gap without dipping for an extended period.  Build on the Celtic buzz.  I think the Celtics all of a sudden have some cache around the league.

We'll never sell them on nightclubs, beaches, and sexy girls.  Our best card to get players to want to come to Boston is that Celtic mystique.  Keeping our old warriors until the end can only help that.  And, like I said, what's the rush.

Agreed Celtics18 - we need to keep grooming our young guys, add a legit big or two to pair with KG and we'll be in the hunt again.

Whether it is done or not, I only hope Stiemsma is not the team's back up center. He is a third stringer at best.

I honestly don't think so. Listen, we took the Miami Heat, the best team the eastern conference has to offer to game 7 of the eastern conference finals. We did all this with an incomplete team, and a hurting Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Imagine how we would do if we had a bench? We literally had NO bench, at all, there were spot contributions here and there but they big 4 had no help.

If they are able to get KG signed, and maybe Ray (not sure about this one) and add some younger, but proven talent, this team can be right back in this position again.
