Not for me. He can be a a very solid backup 4 for cheap. If he comes cheap that is.

If we can get him on his option then its a no brainer to keep him here. He had a stellar season for him though and might want to get his payday and i dont blame him. However, he knows how easy Rondo makes it on him. That could be enticing enough for him to stick around another year with this squad on the cheap.

What do ya'll think.... give everybody a one year deal and go at it again, with a healthy lineup?

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
As a starter yes. He's a back up four but these playoffs have shown his weaknesses in the paint. If he could shoot the three he'd be awesome but he is too limited offensively.
Undersized, no post moves, but hits free throws and open 15 footers. Great 6th man.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'm hoping Bass comes up with a massive, great game tonight that propels the C's into the finals--and motivates some GM to offer more than the option he has here for next year.

The only way I see him working well on this team next year is if Danny drafts a big who comes in and plays so well that he's a starter by mid-year and Bass is the quality backup that he should be.

But I think Danny has to bring another established player in and then Bass will be something of an overpaid redundancy.

I'd prefer an upgrade like Kris Humphries.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Can't be serious.  Bass is light years ahead of the former Mr. Kardasian.

I agree that if Bass had some decent post moves, it would make him much more valuable.  He's already an outstanding free throw shooter and he's got the muscle to take hits, so a post move or two would fit his game perfectly.

I'd like to keep Bass.  Hopefully Sean Williams will be here as well.  Dump Hollins.  Bring JJJ and Stiemsma along. Resign KG for about $10MM.

I would like to see Jajuan Johnson move into that starter role next season. So I'm okay with Bass opting out and moving on.

not a fan of bass. He is like a big baby its time we get a real PF. He did his thing but he wont hit a contested jumper, no post moves, cant back down defender and score.

He was fine while he lasted and i believe keeping the same aging team would just lead to failure real soon as we got to remember we are an ageing team and we MUST focus on getting younger. if we had a Vet starting 5 with 3 rooks on the bench im fine.

Only if the price is too high. Otherwise, Bass is a valuable player as a backup PF.

This!

Bass was fine until we had to insert him into a starters role. He's capable of having big games and playing well. But he's also a no show sometimes. My problem with Bass is he's like a step slow a lot. Fumbles the ball at critical times when he's in the optimum position to take advantage of being open in the post. It's almost like he's thinking too much and not reacting. When he reacts, he plays great. When he thinks, he flubs up.

I prefer him coming off the bench and us having a real starter. Bass was great until we actually had to make him a starter. I still believe he can go off and win us games. But I also believe he's a bit more likely to be disappointing than the difference.

at times he just stood their with the ball looking for someone to pass to. He was acting like a kid in an AAU game that knew he couldn't dribble and just didn't know what to do next.

If you are a pro you got to know what to do and i'd rather trade him away and get anthony randolf to replace him

I think we should keep him. It's rare in all the years that we've had the big 3 together that there has been another scoring option as reliable as Bass has been. He may not light up like we want him to everynight, but he is a pretty consistent 8-10 points, sometimes quite a bit more, a night.

My opinion: find someone that isn't a tweener to start at the 4, have Bass come off the bench. Big Baby did it for so long and killed bench defenders... imagine a much better Bass doing that.  ;D
Take me where the Boston Celtics fans roam free without judgment from my enemies.
