First I want to say that although I know the history and greatness that the Russell and Bird Era had in our history; I never got to witness them play first hand.

This Celtic Team will probably be the best team in any sport that I will probably ever witness in my lifetime(I'm 25).  I can't emphasize enough the joy I get every time we win when we are counted out.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching them play the last 5 seasons even through its ups and downs. I love the heart and hard work that this core team lives by day in and day out to prove all the "analysts" wrong.  For the most part we somehow always are the underdogs and are always counted out.  And I don't want to come across that I am counting them out for tomorrows game, I believe in my heart that they can win and will be rooting for them!

And if tomorrow should be the last time I see Paul, Ray, KG, and Rondo on the court for the last time together wearing the green and white I just want to say thank you for putting everything you had on the floor and giving me and all the other fans something I/We may never witness again!

Let's prove ESPN and the world wrong once again and show them what true teamwork and dedication can do!!

Let's Go Celtics!!!

Probably will not win tomorrow, but it doesn't matter.  The team during this 5 year run is easily my favorite of all time.  So much heart.  Granted, I was basically a toddler when the Larry Bird Celtics were relevant... so it's a pretty easy choice.

My dad (who is 57 years old) surprisingly told me yesterday that this was his favorite team ever and that we'd probably never see anything like it again.  That was interesting to me, because the both of us have lived in Seattle since 1995... he was born and raised in Boston, is a lifelong Celtic fan... and attended games as a kid during the Russell era and as an adult during the Bird era... and yet he still swears this is his favorite ever.

I love this team for its guts and heart, but for me, it is third behind the 60's teams and the Bird, Parrish, McHale teams.

Number one for me, and I turned eleven in 1980.  I have some fond memories of those Celtics of my boyhood, but this one is much more meaningful for me.

I was born a few months before Russell's last championship so I missed that run.

I think they have a decent shot of winning on Saturday.

I've been a fan since the early 70's.  This team reminded me a lot of the Bird era teams.  The 80's team though are still my favorite.

They had everything this team has and they had the killer instinct of Larry Bird.  I think that separates them in my eyes but this team will always be special.  Bird was just better then anyone on this Celtic's team.  He passed like Rondo, shot like Ray, rebounded like KG with KG's tenacity.   He was also better in the clutch/big games then Paul Pierce.  Nothing against our current stars, Bird was just better.

I expect to see at least one more team of this level in my lifetime.  It's hard to do it as consistently as Red did but it goes in cycles.  The Celtic's will rise to the top again.   Big market/great fan base.  We have ownership willing to spend for a winner.  An aggressive and talented GM.  One of the NBA's best coaches.  Keep those or most of those things around and it wont take long to get right back into contention.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Do we have a chance of winning it all? You dont think it weighs on our players head the fact that if they win Saturday, they are going to be obliterated by the Thunder, four straight? They can end it on Saturday and escape the embarrassment with the Thunder; I think they dont wnat to be embarrassesd by the Thunder.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

This guy has been a troll on numerous Celtics boards for a number of years.

And even after all this time, all of the never say die effort, heart and spirit this team has shown he still does not get it....probably doesn't even want to. ::)

Yeah, that's what Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo must be thinking;  "Oh no, we better not beat the Heat, because we are scared to face the Thunder."

This post would be incendiary, if it weren't for the fact that it's purely comical.

I was kind of wondering if he was for real.
