I will never see the point of measuring the thickness of someone's shoes. They don't measure your hand length with gloves on.
You don't play basketball with gloves on. You do, however play with shoes on.

and on combine day, you can wear your big boy shoes! Are we drafting the shoes? Is there going to be a shoe thickness provision in the dude's contract?

Quincy Miller is incredibly long. Could he be a more athletic Austin Daye once he fully recovers from that ACL?

The thing that stood out to me is that Meyers Leonard is the only legit 7 footer in the draft this year.

Fab Melo: 7' 0"
Tyler Zeller: 7' 0.5"

Without shoes those 2 dudes are 6-11.

I'm with you--listing heights with shoes is bogus.

Difference between rounding up 1/4 of an inch vs. rounding up 3/4 of an inch (Zeller) or even up 1 1/4 inches (Melo).

At the risk of spoiling this incredibly nuanced debate we seem to be having, allow me to rephrase my initial post:

ZOMG I'm totally surprised that Meyers Leonard is the only 1st round prospect who, when measured without a pair of inch-and-a-half-thick shoes on, is approximately seven feet tall to within an experimental error of plus or minus one half of an inch!!!!!!1!!!eleventyhundred!!!!

Acocrding to the list I saw Leonard is a full inch taller then Fab Melo and half an inch taller than Zeller...

  • Perry Jones' measurements are quite disappointing. A legit 6-11 but only average length with a 7-1.75 wingspan and a sub-par 8-10.5 standing reach.
  • Meyers Leonard has very good size but sub-par length and standing reach. That is disappointing.
  • Ezeli only has an 8-10 standing reach. Small for a center. He has good size (6-11), weight (264lbs) and excellent length (7-5). Must have a massive neck or head.
  • Kyle O'Quinn. 6-10, 7-5, 9-3 standing reach. Impressive. Sounds like he is going to have a shot to move up into the late first early second range.
  • Draymond Green, wow, only 6-7.5 but a 7-1 wingspan and 8-10 standing reach. He should be well able to play the four spot in the pros. I think he has firmly moved into that late first category.
  • Thomas Robinson checks in at a disappointing 6-8. Good length (7-3) and solid wingspan (8-10). That might be enough to drop him a few spots. Not sure he is a lock to go in the top four with those measurements given his skill-set.
  • Terrence Jones with a 8-9.5 standing reach. Slightly to the tweener side of things. I still like the Al Harrington comparisons with him.
  • Miles Pumlee at 6-11, 7-1, but, only an 8-8.5 standing reach. He's going to have a tough time. It doesn't sound like he is skilled enough to overcome that. I am thinking low level backup PF to third string PF.
  • Royce White at 6-8, 7-0 but only 8-8.5 too. However, I believe Royce has the skill-level (and the muscle) to overcome that.
  • Kidd-Gilchrest has good size. 6-7, 7-0, 8-8.5.
  • Harkless an inch less at 8-7.5 despite an 6-8.75 height. His height and length listings seem a lot like Jeff Green's to me.
  • Oh gosh, ahhh, I was just going to call Jae Crowder too small and then I saw Harrison Barnes below him. Only an 8-6 standing reach. That is not SF size. That is SG size. He is in trouble. To those that have seen more of Harrison Barnes, is he quick enough to play the two defensively? I don't think he has a strong enough handle or passing skills. He has the jump-shot though right. The catch and shoot game.
  • Will Barton with legit size at 6-6, 6-10 and 8-7.
  • Terrence Ross and Jeremy Lamb are a bit disappointing at 8-5. Solid but unexceptional size. It sounded like Ross would be bigger than that and that Lamb with his length might end longer than that. Alas, they're not.
  • Why is Jae Crowder in there twice? One is 8-6 and change, the other 8-3. The 8-3 one sounds way too small. Must be 8-6.
  • Bradley Beal only 8-3. That is Monta Ellis size. Ahh, I was hoping he'd be a bit bigger. Another inch and a half, 8-4.5. Although actually, now that I look it up, Eric Gordon is the same size. I thought EG was a bit bigger than that.
  • Tyshawn Taylor and Marquis Teague with solid size. Tony Wroten with excellent size.
  • Austin Rivers at 8-1 !!! No way he is making it in the NBA as a two guard.
  • Wow, Kendall Marshall. No length. Only 7-10.5 standing reach. He is 6-4.75 but only 6-5.5 length. Oh, that's very disappointing.

-I think that is quite legit size for perry jones. Bigger than a lot of PFs.
-For Sg's and SF's i think wingspan is more important than standing reach, thus Harrison Barnes actually did better than you give him credit for. Same for Terrence jones; great wingspan.
-Everyone I'm reading says that Thomas Robinson helped himself a lot with his measurements; he has legit PF size with good skill. The question was never his skill but his size, and people seem to think that these measurements assuage those fears.
-Ford says that this is one of the "longest" drafts in terms of pure measurements. I don't know how it compares to previous years, but he's impressed by the standing reach of bigs and the wingspan of wings.
