Lebron is a better passer than scorer.  He's huge and can pass out of double teams and kill you.  I have no problem not doubling Lebron.  You have to make him take those shots.  He made them.

This. He made incredibly tough shots that were very well defended. Those fade away off balance jumpers are exactly what we want from lebron. it was just unfortunate that he only missed 7 out of the 26 he took tonight.

So far this is the best reason I've heard why we scored over 20 in ONE QUARTER THE WHOLE GAME. huh

Good effort, good try?

I LOVE The C's team that shows up for half the games, they are awesome, this team, worst freaking team Ive ever seen. they BLOW!

Why?

I said this in the game thread and pretty much got the same responses.

I just feel if someone is scoring, what was it, 30 points in one half...you have to try SOMETHING on him. If it doesn't work, cool. At least you tried to slow him down a little bit. If he has to pass out of the double team, so be it. Let other players on the team beat you. Getting beat by one man is never okay.

But to just let him continue to go off like that the entire game...

You have to recognize when a player is 12 for 13 that he's on fire... make someone else hit a shot

I think Doc was just sticking with what has worked the last 3 games.  Double Wade to stop his attacking the rim, and play hard against LJ but accept that he is going to get his.  Just tonight 'his' was a bigger bucket than normal.

I agree with the other peeps, doubling LJ is more problematic because of  his size and his court vision.  Better passer than wade.  We are putting a lot of pressure on their ball movement by doubling wade and forcing him into bad passes.  I don't see the same amount of benefit from doubling lebron.  He just didn't miss tonight.

That kind of game happens fairly often for LeBron.  Shouldn't be that much of a surprise.  He was due for one of those against us.  LIkewise, Wade has a game like that in his chamber too... hopefully it doesn't come out during game 7.

Why?

i was asking the same question all night - we've used that strategy to slow down Wade this series - this game was screaming for a defensive shakeup, starting with two defenders smothering Lebron.

why ?
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Yea it couldn't have hurt anymore, Doc was probably thinking like everybody he can't keep this up and will tire out or cool off eventually but he did.

We HAD TO TRY this...Pierce is also a great passer, and if you watch the Philly's series, he was double teamed on the catch or first dribble almost every game, and it was very effective...
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

For playoff game where he scores 30 or more that was the best shooting night that he's ever had. He's a great scorer, but that kind of scoring is far from the norm for him.

Why?

Because you don't alter your entire defense to stop a guy who is having one of his best jump shooting days of his life.

Lebron can make every shot he takes, but if you limit all the other guys you will be in the game.  This is what happened last night, the C's had multiple opportunities in the 2nd and 3rd quarter to get the lead back to 6 or 8, and they bricked shots or turned the ball over.

I would give Lebron every single shot he took last night (except the dunks) again in Game 7.
