from Mark Spears twitter:

"When asked what teams off the Top 5 radar want to meet with him, former UConn center Andre Drummond said the Celtics and Spurs."

Interesting... two teams both probably looking toward some sort of rebuilding toward the future interested in a high risk high reward center.  Track record for both C's and Spurs good when it comes to prospects too.

Thoughts?

I think Drummond is going to end up in Portland with the #6 pick.

don't see how either team gets him.  C's would have to cough up Rondo and I wouldn't move Rondo except for a handful of players right now, nevermind an untested draft pick.

The fact that the Nets gave up that pick for Gerald Wallace still is mind boggling.

hmmm both teams would obviously have to trade up to get him. Not sure how excited I'd be

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
First Barnes and now Drummond.

I don't know how he's going to do it, but its pretty clear Danny plans on moving up.

Maybe the big three plan on retiring and gave him the heads up.

Ainge always kicks the tires, remember when he tried to convince Memphis to take Perkins for the #2 pick. (since the owner was going to force them to take Thabeet for "size")

As the top of the draft (going off of DX's mock - Lillard is the first thing resembling a PG taken at #10) is pretty sparse on PG talent, or at least combo guard talent, perhaps Ainge thinks he can move into the top 10 with Bradley.

Either that or we're considering a Pierce move (Golden St. is a pretty logical destination - their Jefferson/Wright/#7 package is only a little inferior to the Wally/West/#5 package that got us a 32-year old Ray Allen), or even a Rondo move (doubt it).
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Gotta love Ainge.

Funny thing, they'd have been better off with Perkins than what they got Thabeet in that he's currently an nba player.

Even if it would have potentially stiffled Gasol's playing time, ah well....

The fact that the Nets gave up that pick for Gerald Wallace still is mind boggling.

Seems they could have got more for it had they been patient. But Williams made it clear he will not wait on a rookie to develop. He wants to win now. Nets are dumb. What moves has Billy King made that were really good in his career. I can't really remember any that worked out for NJ or Philly. Obviously I am not counting the Williams trade because that is still pending depending on what he does this off-season.

I'm holding off judging King harshly at the moment simply because this trade clearly had to have been ownership ordered.

Plans to move up? I was thinking more of preparing..or trying to. Or he's just being a good GM and looking into EVERY scenario to better this team.

In my personal opinion,if Drummond ends up on the Celtics then I feel it will be a huge mistake. Count me as not a fan of him..

I read that the Nets 2010 free agency signings were not his decisions either.

Travis Outlaw. Johan Petro. Jordan Farmar. Anthony Morrow.

What $19 million a year for the next four years and a fifth year at $7 million for Outlaw. Appearently, even though King is the GM, those signings weren't his decisions. Seems crazy to me that he'd take a GM job without being able to make those decisions.

I have to wonder how much pull he has in that front office and just who is making the decisions for that franchise.

Drummond should be a top 5, possibly a top 3 pick in this draft (nbadraft has him at 3 in mock to the wizards) no way will he be making the celtics list.
